So bring an excuse each time you get shot down? Did you note recently that Capcom announced Okami on Wii (a long dated port with no upgrades and no TV advertising on a console with 1/4th the install base) just sold as much as the PS2 release and it's still selling each week?

So, which excuse to you plan to use on that one?

Was there any console which had a short lifetime due to graphics?

Just the PS2. That ugly slow blocky pixely laggy pile of shit only lasted 8 years... so far.

huh ?

mighty PLAYSTATION 2 lifespan was short due weak graphics ??

i believe SONY's success in the gaming devision bothers you(i could be wrong)

That was sarcasm, 321.

yea of course.....if the MIGHTY PLAYSTATION 2 lifespan was short then i strongly believe the UNSUCCESSFUL gamecube and the good welcomed xbox never existed.........

I'm sure this one has been posted at least once in this thread already, but...

great.,..same goes for you

What I will get into though, is this stupid notion that graphics are everything.

Nobody said that graphics are everything in this thread. Find me one person that would say that on the entire site in fact. What's stupid is the notion that graphics literally mean nothing, and that's something that people have actually said in this thread.

Simply because no one explicitly stated it doesn't mean that their statements did not imply that graphics were the most important feature of a game ...

You yourself said "It's a total falsehood to think that having a system with weaker graphics leads to better games in some way." which basically states "Any advancement in videogames that does not include an improvement in graphics can not lead towards better games"

The fact that you can improve Physics, AI, Controlls, as well as focus on making larger and more dynamic worlds without ever focusing on graphics would be pointless in your vision of what improvement is.

Even if a person thought that graphics were the most important aspect of a game, most important != everything.

You yourself said "It's a total falsehood to think that having a system with weaker graphics leads to better games in some way." which basically states "Any advancement in videogames that does not include an improvement in graphics can not lead towards better games"

Wrong again. You need a lesson in logic mate.

How did he imply the PS2's life was short? He was commenting on the weaker graphics not interfering with the PS2's longevity. Talk about missing the point of a comment.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

@HB

Actually etymology is a funny thing, niche is a word that can change it's definition in terms of etymology.

For example, in the usage of niche as for how a game sold versus how a game is marketed. Who knew a game like Brain Training would sell over 10 million copies, I thought it would be niche as hell.

The game is as niche as it's marketed, the case of boom blox is amazing, the game has sold 500k (reffering above posts) that's more than many PS3 exclusives or Xbox exclusives that are mainstream and advertized sell.

(Looking at you Haze and Folk Lore!)

I actually like Folk Lore, it' boring half way through though, I hated playing with the girl. But being my 2nd game it was a nice awakening to what the PS3 was going after... It was first party too.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

@the bloodwalker: 1st party success leads to 3rd parties support.
So, what genres are we talking about? If we are talking about genres that PS360 has and Wii doesn't, eventually someone sees a market gap and starts filling it. Easy money with proven genres.
High Voltage saw a gap with first person shooters (and its middleware) and CoD5 is coming to Wii. And if we are talking about some daring projects that try something new, they are guaranteed to hit the Wii before PS3 or 360, since risks are smaller, due to cheaper developement, and userbase is bigger.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Who knew a game like Brain Training would sell over 10 million copies, I thought it would be niche as hell.

See I wouldn't have said that was a niche title because it's something people of all ages can play and the controls are easily accessible, not unlike Boom Blox.

Haze was a game that was delayed time and time again, and then universally panned by the critics. Had it received universal praise and failed, then yeah, I would also have asked why. I must admit I'd never heard of Folklore until now, but I'm not a PS3 owner. How many units did it move? You've also got to take into account install bases, because Boom Blox had far more potential to sell than a PS3 game released in Autumn 2007 (according to Wikipedia). There is also the fact that "Wii owners don't want graphics. They want innovation and fun!" to take into account. Boom Blox is both of those things IMO.

I've given up trying to discuss anything with you. You're the guy that posted in the MS forum saying they would be better off with friend codes instead of gamertags aren't you? LOL. An obvious fanboy with very little grasp on reality.

^^^ Well, since the main fault people throw against the Wii is it's graphical inabilities, I find it that people do believe that graphics are everything. When that trailer for Killzone 2 wasn't in-game footage, people were up in arms as to how it was a lie. The graphics should be good enough to suffice for it, but people are hard to please. No one praises Killzone 2 for its gameplay, but all I have heard of it are its graphical comparisons with Gears of War 2 and such. People meticulously analyze every screenshot and describe every feature of the hardware that screenshot may entail.

@horriblebastard

Thanks for trying to disregard and belittle my entire post by blowing one sentence blatantly out of proportion, in order to make people believe my opinion is biased and has no value here.

@HappySqurriel

Thanks you for *defending* my post and saying how it SHOULD have been interpreted.
