Here is Squares DQ:S TV spot.

Not bad IMO, there is a longer version here:

I dont know where they would ever air that longer version. Unless thats the one intended for the movie theater ads that were reported on a while back. That second one is just far to long for a TV spot. But the first one is good.

The first video is apparently malformed. MALFORMED I SAYS!

Looks good

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

I think the trailer/commercial has been up on Gamevideos and Gametrailers for a month or so now. The game looks good but I hear it's very simplistic (some have said made for babies). I'm a fan of the Draqon Quest series and am interested in this game but I hope there is a decent challenge to it event though I can usually enjoy games that are easy.

Most opinions from play time I've heard are that while the gameplay may be relatively simple, it's still an engaging and entertaining experience.

Personaly I can think of five reasons why this game will bomb in Japan

1. The Dragon Quest series is so ragingly successful that people must be getting sick of it by now. It's like building up an immunity to a drug, they've had so much cocaine that it doesn't give them a high anymore.

2. The games release may coincide with a Godzilla attack, causing them to shut down all power sources thus removing their chance to actually play the game, not that they'd want to, as they'd be too busy fleeing for their lives to go out and buy it.

3. The Wii is a fad, it actually died out 4 months ago, and the millions who still want it just haven't figured that out yet.

4. It doesn't have any hentai in it. No one in Japan will want a game without hentai in it. The Japanese version of New Super Mario Brothers features an additonal 3 hours of hard core animated pornography featuring Bowser and Princess Peach.

5. Japan doesn't actually exist. It's a myth fostered by corporate lobby groups to scare North Americans in to thinking that they're industrial efficiency is behind other countries.

Of course, if you pass up those 5 reasons, then the game will be a raging success.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you were trying to be sarcastic.

I think the game will do quite well in Japan simply because it's a Dragon Quest game. It could be Dragon Quest : Slimes Shit their Blobs, and they'd be lining up for days. Dragon Quest IX is on top of many (if not all) wish lists for upcoming titles and following the success of Dragon Quest VIII (perhaps due in large part to how awesome it was) has only strengthened interest in the series.

However, the lack of Hentai could keep some subset of DQ fans away...but there's always fan art!

I would have preferred it if they had made a real Dragon Quest game but I'll take it. The jury is still out though if it's as simplistic, linear and kiddie as some have been saying...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Don't you know thatwhen crack addicts start to develop an immunity they just smoke more? hehe great post though.  I dunno either ckmlb, I'm very "wait and see" on this.  Interestingly 1UP hated it, calling it a baby game, while IGN loved it, calling it the most addicting and engaging game they had played in years.  So yeah, wait and see for sure.
