There seems to be alot of wannabe-hardcores in this thread

The accepted term (thanks to I think it was noname2000) is "snobcore gamers".

I am a bit sad because I do not care for any Nintendo franchises personally, and the DS is really making the PSP suffer because the software is suffering because of how well the DS is doing

PSP is finally getting good software (over the last year).  Piracy prevents publishers from developing for PSP more than DS.  Gamecube and Xbox still had robust lineups, despite PS2 being even more dominating (% wise, not numerically).

If they had had the good SW at launch DS may not be as dominating.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I dont know why sadness exists when there are games for everyone?

- 360 has a bunch of games the fans love and more coming

- PS3 has a bunch games the fans love and more coming

- Wii has a bunch of games the fans love and more coming

Who cares who is "winning"? If you are a consumer and you are enjoying your purchases then who is losing?

The Wii isnt gonna kill the 360 or PS3 so what is the issue?

His point is that the Wii is going to win this gen and he expects every single company to start making some Wii Sports-esque games and make little hardcore games which is not true AT ALL. What...you actually expect SE to stop making FF (this is casual though...), KH, DQ, etc.? And you expect Konami to ditch Metla Gear/Metal Gear Solid, Suikoden, etc.? And you expect Namco to stop making Soul Calibur, and Tales, and Tekken, and other RPGs? Yeah...no. Those companies always flocked to the console with most sales and I don't expect them to stop making those games just because the console is for "everyone."

@Munkeh

Then why don't you just look at the third party games on the DS? I don't care all that much about Nintendo games on the DS but I bought mine for all the RPGs.

Same here :D

I'm sad about the Wii, but not about the DS, my reason for supporting Nintendo. The DS, IMO, is the best handheld ever.

I feel the exact opposite. I am not upset about Wii's success at all. It has not really taken any games away from PS3/360 and has had more than its own share of triple A games. Sales are slaughtering the other two consoles but not the way that PS2 sucked games away from Cube and Xbox. Someone up in the thread mentioned that the only sad thing about it is that we have pretty much been forced to own two consoles.

The PSP and DS thing is a whole other story. Nintendo has pretty much run the handheld scene eversince the very first gameboy When PSP came out I thought it had so much potential. DS Lites' success was so overwhelming that we are barely getting any good new games and empty promises like GPS and camera. It also doesn't help that the UMD format is dead.

Ah well...Blu Ray.

I have a question for you guys:

What is more hardcore, completing HALO3 on Normal and never touch it again or getting a 100% game in Zack&Wiki

Same dude. The most popular console is also the most worthless one... unlike the three prevous generations (PS1, PS2, SNES are all A++ systems, together they are the golden age of gaming for me).

Personally, I don't count the Wii as a competitor this gen. The war is still going on - and we'll see who comes out on top - Sony or M$, they shall be proclaimed winner.

I'd like to add that it's nothing personal Wii fans... it's just that I hate the Wii and it's style of "gaming".

Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

Oh yeah, the PS2 was such a powerhouse compared to the graphically inferior Xbox and Gamecube. And the SNES was the clear technical powerhouse over the Genesis.

In the real world, the graphical powerhouse console has never won. The NES was a generation behind the systems it was fighting, as were the SNES and PS2. The PS1 might be considered on par with the N64, as graphics were about the same but the PS1 had longer load times.

As for the 'casual' games, you should be praising them. Every gamer starts out as a non-gamer, then becomes a 'casual' gamer, before graduating to 'hardcore'. The first game I ever played was some hilariously bad Mickey Mouse game for the original NES, and if it wasn't for that game I wouldn't be playing games now. In 5-10 years, you're going to be seeing a huge surge of girls who started gaming on Horsez find their way into the market as adult, 'hardcore' gamers.

Oh, and by the way, I hate the PS3/360 and their style of 'gaming'. How is it a game if all you do is watch cut scenes/stare at the pretty graphics. How can it be fun if all you're doing is pressing buttons and otherwise staying completely still and not involved? I hope we don't see any more of these stupid 'non-games' like MGS4/GTA4/Halo 3 which are more like Novels than Games, Amirite?

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Acolyte of Disruption

lol reading this thread kind of makes me feel bad that I bought a Wii

kind of

Hahahaha, this post is priceless, it truly shows that a lot of you are not willing to move on onto new things! I'm happy for Nintendo and the Wii, I'm glad they came and are putting a stop to the ongoing sequels, I'm glad they stepped out of the box and stopped Sony and MS's monopoly! All of you that are not willing to move on sound exactly like those in the discussion of Blu-Ray vs Digital Media "uh, I rather have a physical copy cuz owning digital media is not the same." You're getting stuck in the past and eventually, everything you like an love its going to be in a collector's store cuz the mainstream that control the flow of the market has decided that they want to go where Nintendo is going, and its next competitor will have to follow it and improve on it.

What are you looking at, nerd?

How can it be fun if all you're doing is pressing buttons and otherwise staying completely still and not involved?

You just said you got into gaming on the NES, so presumably from then until now you've been a gamer. What were you doing before the Wii was released if it wasn't sitting down with a joypad in your hand pressing buttons? Your argument makes no sense at all unless you were being sarcastic and I missed it.
