Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why Did Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn get bad reviews?

I got fire emblem radiant dawn this may and I think it is one of the best SRPG's that are out there. But most reviewers seem to trash this game, saying that the difficulty is too high or the story is horrible and there are no motion controls. But i seem to think that the reviewers are exagerating the difficulty I mean it wasnt that hard. The motion controls wouldnt have made much of a difference, is it that hard to press the dpad a couple of times instead of pointing at the screen and clicking. The story is decent, nothing amazing but it was good enough to keep me interested.

So why do you think Fire emblem got bad reviews?

Not a large upgrade from the previous GC edition and didn't take advantage of the Wii. Some reviewers liked that idea and some didn't. thus it got mixed reviews.

I'd guess

Reviewers hate SRPGs

It's HARD, likely the hardest game this generation (That's any good... lookin at you stealth vampire)

Every Fire Emblem game is very similar... right down to the characters personalities.

It's a direct sequel.

It was The GC version expansion nothing new at all really

Because of people like the person I'm quoting.

The same reason they rated Trauma Center: New Blood low, they are "hardcore" gamers that can't beat hard games.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Also, there is evidence that they often don't beat the games they review.  Reviewers' opinions have been in question are quite a while

Most people agree that The story wasn't good for the most part.

and how exactly do they want the WiiMote to be included??? It is an SRPG, What will the game benefit from motion controls..>_>?

The sad part is that RD isn't even that hard IMO.

I can only imagine what the reviewers would have written about some of the old NES titles that were truly difficult and seemed to exist purely to crush your spirit.

Its not much "better" than the GC version, from a technical standpoint. That being said, I thought it was great. Honestly there aren't many Wii games that can claim to be a lot better than similar GC versions (e.g. Fire Emblem, RE4, Zelda, Paper Mario, even SMG when compared to SMS, really), so I dunno what the heck the mediocre reviews were all whining about.

Its a good game, when judged from what is, IMO, a fair standpoint.
