No, and every article on this "news" reports back to the same source with no confirmation from Sony one way or the other.  I'm calling fud on this one.  A bunch of fanboys all jumping on an article that has no credibility nor evidence.

Um...

the 3rd and 4th problems are def. not FW problems. I had that exact problem with perks when the game first came out. I got tired of naming them so I just leave em blank now and just know what each one is.

None of those problems seem related to the firmware update. I’m guessing its more of a coincidence. Discs not working is usually a problem with the blu-ray diode, this has been the main cause of Ps3’s breaking. Don’t blame the firmware. The COD4 class not keeping its name is a server problem, again has nothing to do with the PS3. This article sounds a little biased

The one about being connected is probablly weak wireless connection. Fairly common problem again. Thats why I don't use wireless. I have to unhook m modem from my computer and bring it to my Ps3 when I want to play online.

The other 2 sound like a HW failure to me. Especially since one stated they did a system restore on the thing.

Im gonna call this fake.

I'm not saying that this isn't fake, but right after the 2.40 update, the same sort of thing was happening on forums, and that was quickly being attributed to hardware problems instead of the firmware update as well, and we all know how that turned out.

For me personally, the update went fine, but I'm inclined to believe someone when they say the update gave them problems. Why would they lie?

Thanks for the info Burgles...persistent universes are difficult to manage and maintain, which is why they cost so muhc. You need a 24-7 staff to moniter and contro lthe network. Glad to see Sony stepping up to the plate and correcting their problems on the system.

Updated mine when it came out and had zero problems, and the only places I can find this "news" story are on sites like this one, talking about rumors of, or scattered reports.

The same thing happened last year when the 360 got its update, remember all those consoles taking a Dive? Same thing happens all the time all over the place all across every electronic device. Unless this is Sony saying theres a problem like with 2.41 one this isnt news as much as hear say.



I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.
