Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why you should buy a DS. 56k Warning.

The fist reason its enough. People, buy The world ends with you.

Best Games/Serie of the Generation

Around the Network

I can give you three good reasons to buy a DS.

One is the price. It is the cheapest system this generation, as Nintendo's handhelds always are. But the Software is where the price really hits the mark. 20-40 dollars a game will really make you feel good when you walk into the store and have a limited budget. When you realize you want more than one game, but only $50 dollars to spend, you can buy 3 great games for the same price as that 1 great game for a console.

Two is the Ratio. While the console war is flaming, nearly every company is focusing some major attention on the DS. And this attention has given the DS a ratio of a large amount of games while still having more than its fare share of good games. In other words, its got the closest ratio of quality to quantity this generation.

Three, is the software. While the three consoles and the PSP, for lack of the better explanation, are either focusing on other markets or 'gimmicks', the DS has stayed purely about its software of games. Even with the Touch features and some ideas like 'Brain Training', none of this has deterred the system from having some of the best games this generation.

In short, I believe the DS is the system that has won this Generation. Yes, a handheld has dug so much into the third party market and even Nintendo's own Wii market that it has effected them all. And therefore, its the dominant Console this generation. Yes, console.

Oh, and btw.  There's a slight chance anyone reading this who is actually thinking about buying a DS might want to think about waiting.  Since the DSi is coming out sometime soon.  But that's up to you.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Nintendo rock !!!

@maxis, i think you're wrong about the ratio... the ds is the system with the most games on it, but its hard to siphon through all the rubbish to find the good ones. go here http://www. simplynds. com and scroll down. get back to me with the number of "my pet kitten" or kids' movie tie-ins you count.

(not a dig at you btw, i see you like your ds, i love mine, just dont go giving it more credit than its due) :)

dont buy a ds now!!!! its too late...might as just wait till ds2 holiday 09 (total prediciton) :p

Too late?!? It's never too late to buy a DS. It has a ridiculously good library AND can play GBA games as well. As far as RPGs go there's no better system and I'm more and more leaning towards calling it the best game device ever.

I do want a new Hotel Dusk real bad.

You've got that right.

I pretty much bought a DS just for Fire Emblem. So I weighed the DSi vs the DS Lite. The DSi gets me one Fire Emblem game and I have to wait until later this year to play it. The DS Lite gets me three Fire Emblem games, and I can start playing two of them right now! No brainer.

And I'm glad they're teasing another Hotel Dusk. Cing has jumped right onto my favourite developer list with that one. They don't make the best puzzles, but they're dialog is fanastic and they really know how to make complicated, sympathetic characters. Some of the best storytelling ever put into video games.
