@Words Of Wisdom
Well, if you consider that he knows he's one of the last chances humanity has got, and still his father(the only family he really has left) thinks of him as a mere tool, maybe a real 14 year old might be angst-ridden
As for the temper tantrum, thats after he has killed a human being for the first time. now i dont know how a "real" 14 yr old would react to that, but im willing to take a guess that neither do you

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murders will foam up about their waist and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"...

....and I'll look down and whisper  "no."

Go ask Soriku then.  He'd be more likely to go "lol wut?" then go batshit insane though.

Overall, the show was a disappointment as Shinji never grew out of the little sack of angst he started as.

As a side note...

im watching this on youtube at the moment

Bleach is great

Fullmetal Alchemist
Pokemon
Dragonball Z
Dragon Ball
Sailor Moon

Twelve Kingdoms (Juuni Kokuki)!

This is the best fantasy anime I have ever seen, it has a truly epic feel attached to it, and the world where it takes place seems to match even middle-earth in terms of complexity. A lot of different locations and characters, a lot of sub-plots going on at the same time, in fact this series provides a degree of immersion that I thought one can only get from reading a book. Too bad it was canceled, because the 39 episodes appeared to me just like the prologue to an even more epic story.

How did I miss this thread?
Anyway
Eureka seven
Fullmetal alchemist
Death note
DBZ
Bleach(although I prefer the manga since the anime is full of fillers.)

I'm currently watching:
Naruto
Code geass

1: Death Note.

2:One Piece

3:Cowboy Bebop

4:Naruto

I read more Manga...

Take my love, take my land..
