Forums - Sales Discussion - WoW, Sony are in real trouble

While Sony has fallen on rough times, WoW continues to be a cash cow.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Too bad the shortages won't be around for a while. If so i coulda bought a couple PS3s at gamestop today and made some bank.

Come on, that was obviously not du to E3.

Look at Xbox360 numbers is PAL and see how they are low.

They are going back to the "pre-price cut" level (45k-50k).

Despite the FFXIII announcement ... and despite no shortage.

you can't compare sales in February/March vs sales in July...last year for instance sales dropped by 50%.

In 2008 sales in July are still higher than in february/march (and  more than doubled compared to 2007): that's the price cut effect.

===> not sure.

I dont know what u can compare or not compare.

This is how I see the thing :

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=&reg1=------&cons2=&reg2=------&cons3=X360&reg3=Total+Other&start=39089&end=39656

For the Xbox360 : there are 3 phase for 2008 so far :

- 2008 started higher than 2007 BEFORE the price cut (because of Xmas and the 2007 price cut+Halo3) : that we agree.

- Then sales go up even more WITH the price cut (the recent one)

- More recently, the sales are going back to their PRE-price cut level

==>>>>>>>>>   The 2008 Price cut in PAL had only a temporary effect.

Maybe to stand for...

World of Wowcraft?
Random guess as words like "of" not usually capitalized... I think...

I'm thinking less supply constraints. The drop last week was only 19%. If this week has a small drop then I wouldn't put it major shortage.

I'd put it more to the same thing that happened to the 360. After Halo 3, there isn;t anything close by, so the system stalls. Of course, the 360 has been like this for a while, so a strong holiday may help.

Sony has been a little silly announcing the new model so early, and it still meant to be like a month away, so they should have really sorted out the supply issues

I hope to see better numbers next week!

Lol, like Nintendo was in real trouble when the Wii sold less than 50k in America.

supply shortage? I see them all over the place...damn things taking up space in gamestops.

GameStop keeps all their systems in the back, thus you wouldn't be able to see them.  >_>
