Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Rock Band 2 Will Beat Guitar Hero: World Tour

Let's not forget rock band STILL isn't out in Europe on the PS3. I expect rock band 2 to have a similar timed exclusive deal. It took forever for rock band to come out on 360 in europe after it did in america. If there are similar waiting periods to be had with rock band 2 then World Tour is going to kill it in sales.

Yeah, WT will most likely sell more across the board.  The real question is, what will happen to the Rock Revolution game?

OPs post kinda nails it but it not gonna turn that way.

Guitar hero is a better known brand than rock band.

Guitar hero has sold alot more than rock band.

imo GH:WT gonna sell alot more but Rock band 2 gonna deliver way more. Some thing that really matter to me personally is this :

Alot of DLC

Fun gameplay

Developers that listens to their fans

which HMX has shown that they do. While Activison and RO just rapes the guitar hero brand til its dead and show no intrest in their fans.

What i really see as a gimmick is the new make your own song thing in GH:WT it prop gonna be make a TFFAF clone with no vocals times a billion.

Did someone say that Rockband looks more cartoony than Guitar Hero!?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

The RB2 track list has me firmly on its side... Elvis Costello seals it for me.

GH3 wasn't hard on expert.  The songs were easy, Lou was a bitch.  Cheap as hell.  Still beat his ass though.

That is because you play too many videogames.  LOL.  Oh, so do I... but I still suck.

Either way, Slayer, Dragon Force, and a bunch of other ones are way harder than any thing in 1 and 2, IMO.

Yeah, I couldn't do that Dragon Force song on expert.  I could on hard though.  That Slayer song aint bad though.  The funnest song to play in the GH games is The Beast and the Harlet.

much agreed i personally will go rockband 2 becuase i have downloaded songs that will transfer over but the feature i want the most is online world tour mode  and the rockband 2 setlist is pretty kickass

i'm definitely picking up Rock Band 2, the first one was alot of fun to play and the songs list looks solid for RB2. The only reason I'll get GH:WT is if the new Metallica album is released in full on it at DLC which by the looks of it will be.

Guitar hero world tour is going to be so much better than RB2....

-better songs
-music creator
-better guitar
-better drums

Um...how do you even know this?  Besides people that work at Neversoft, nobody knows the complete setlist yet.

GH:WT will only have songs that are included on the disc, thats it.  From what I've seen though there will be 16 songs on the GH:WT setlist that will be repeats of what's already on RB2's list or DLC.  That's a lot of overlap for a setlist of ~80 songs.

Rock Band 2 has 84 songs on the disc, plus 95% of the songs on the RB1 disc, plus whatever DLC you want to buy.  That's a huge advantage in both quality, quantity, and variety.

The music creator is cool and all but no vocals = big fail imo.  A lot of songs are made by the vocals so I could care less about hearing instrumental versions of groups/songs I like.

Maybe I look at it differently but I see the RB series as a platform where I can continue growing my catalog of songs as time goes on.  GH games are fun for what they are but are more of a disposable series to me.  I usually play through them and I'm done.  So far their disregard of DLC (higher prices, plus no BC on the songs), rather bland presentation of career modes, and addition of annoying features (battles...seriously?) vs actual fun ones has led my interest to wane over time.

I'll probably still get both (I've owned every GH game before) but my first day money & anticipation is aimed at Harmonix.
