PS3 having a shortage is fair game. If it wasn't, leoj would've accounted for shortages in the prediction. The thing is, he never thought to because no one would've guessed that there'd be a PS3 shortage then.

Okay, the kid made a guess at sales for the year...i dont think he sat down with a calculator and ran through all of the possible variables like supply shortages, delays, major game releases and such.

Still, this was a very interesting week. I'm very curious to see if software sales will be inflenced by this shortage. Time will tell.

Fair enough.  It won't be unreasonable for the PS3 to pull off the 13k+ it needs to get over 120k.

When people make arrogant fanheavy predictions with stated absolutes and they are proven wrong, they deserve to have those predictions brought back up when they are proven wrong.

When you make a prediction, you aren't just stating an opinion, you're entering a poll. Afterall, the only thing that matters on the internet anymore is general concensus, and when you create an artificial stance, you can't just be let off clean.

Let's be real, most people who have a problem with a post like this are PS3 fanboys. They are fighting tooth and nail to have this topic, which only serves to remind them that the PS3 had a particularly poor week, locked.

That way we can all just say whatever we want one day and then play all morally offended the next day when someone calls us out about how our mild-to-rampant fanboyism was all a load of gibberish afterall.

If we can't bust people out for faulty predictions, like Crazzy, when they are proven completely wrong, then the internet loses its purpose and sense of justice.

For instance, if I said: The PS3 will be dead in a year. and next month, the PS3 outsells the Wii, and you call me out on it....would I have a right to be offended and request your post be locked?

No, this faux outrage has more to do with which console the prediction was based on and less about the delicate sensabilities of our more vocal members.

Truth is, I doubt the PS3 will reach 14,000 with famitsu or MC this week, 13....maybe, but it might end up getting a favorable rounding. We'll see.

Even if the PS3 is under 120k by several thousand units, that's still well within the margin of error for VGC.

Considering the source, the original prediction has turned out to be remarkably close to reality, which is pretty uncharacteristic for a guy who typically makes his posts based upon raw emotion rather than an impartial examination of the data and trends at hand.

Maybe Sony shouldn't have announced the decision to upgrade existing 40GB SKUs to 80GB HDDs standard, since no one will buy one who heard about it. Retailers will have to discount the remaining 40GB stock once the upgraded replacements start rolling in.

The MGS4 bundle on the other hand is limited enough not to take up slack for the drop in 40GB sales. It's still #3 on Amazon for the past week and still in stock due to the one console per household limitation due to demand, according to Amazon.
