didn't sony announce that they will replace the 40gb with 80gb next month? maybe people are waiting for that, ps3 has not been this low since its war with gba

Amazon is not a reliable source for sales data.

Guys there is an issue with channel right now. 40GBs are pretty much gone out side online. 80GBs are getting stock, but still limited and you have to add in the fact only so many people will pay for the $500 version. The other issue is some people are willing to wait for the new 80GBs when they are released at the end of Aug/Sept. Many, many stores have not seen 40GB shipments since the end of June.

The real question right now is when will Sony get the new SKUs to the retail channel or this problem will continue to be an issue.

Disagree with 80Gb, it was everywhere starting middle of the week...

Does the retailer that helps build those estimates sell those bundles? ( because I seem to remember VGChartz underestimated bundles sales last month compared to NPD)
