Ratchet and Clank: TOD is the start of a new saga, or storyline, from the PS2 Ratchet games. It is not neccessary to have played the previous games to get into them, however they are so much fun that I do reccommend it. Word of warning, though, they run at a much slower speed on my PS3 then what they should.

As for the Jak series, I do not know of the next game, but I say that you must, and I repeat, must, buy those games. With the exclusion of X, the Jak franchise was my favourite franchise of the last generation, and the third game is easily one of my favourite games of all time - it had everything! Seriously, you must buy these games. For the record, I have had no issues in playing these games on my PS3.

Dude, I thanks for the input. But I got my responses from others. I confirmed that I will not buy those previous Ratchet and Clank games because I was going to play them just for story purposes. Now that I understand the story isn't all that important and I can go on Wiki to get a better understanding of the characters and story it makes me not even what to play them and considering they have problems on the 80GB PS3. I surely do not what them anyway.

The Jak games. Heck yea, I'm picking them up!!!

I like the gameplay in Jak and I like the story and I'm curious about the story between the two Jak and Daxter. And they apparently don' t have any problems on the 80GB PS3. So I'm certainly going to pick those up.

Tbh, I didn't finally break down and get into the MGS series until after I got my ps3.  That insanely long drought for most of it's first year gave me a lot of time to catch up on old games, lol.
