Should I play the old Ratchet & Clank's before moving on to Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

I haven't played this series before and I'm thinking about buying the previous ones but I wanted to know if I didn't will I be missing out on anything.

I also heard that all the Ratchet & Clank's have a hard time playing on the 80GB PS3. They said the framerate chugs down and its hard to play.

Thats another reason why I don't think its worth it.

Same can be said for Jak. I know Naughty Dog is planning another Jak game. Is it recommended for me to play those games?

I can't vouch for Ratchet (as I've only played ToD), but the Jak series is awesome. Especially the first one, when they were creative enough not to need to toss guns into my cartoony platformer.

With R & C, playing the first three titles doesn't really give any real benefit when playing future, except for a couple of in jokes. The games aren't really part of a continuing saga, they only feature the same characters (like james bond sort of)

With J & D i don't know, i've only played the ratchet games.

Sorry, i also dont know about whether R & C work on the 80Gb as I played them on PS2, but there's a website somewhere that tells you what issues they have.

I didn't play any of the first R&C's and TOD is one of my favorite games.

You could play the first Ratchet and Clank since it will explain how their friendship got started, since Ratchet was not too keen on Clank at first.

Yea, I checked Sony official website and they do have a list of PS2 games that are compatiable with the PS3.

I searched Ratchet and Clank and it showed that the games will perform at a slower speed on the 80GB.

I never played Jak either I just figured is it worth playing those games or even buying them.

I love jak games and I recommend them all to you as for Rachet I played the first one and was'nt a big fan but you will without a doubt have to play the old games of both series.

Well I have never played a Ratchet before ToD and loved it, and I dont think it is worth getting those games

On the other hand, I did actually buy the Jak trilogy (I had sold them) again in January, because they are so awesome, though I have not had time to play them through again. They are definitely worth getting, though my game did freeze at a certain point in J & D making it impossible to progress, though I might try again and see if it works. That was on an EU 60GB version, which I think has the same BC as the US 80GBs
