It seems to me that you would need to know Japanese in that game to play it at all in depth, or at least understand just how you upgraded your charecter. But awesome, yes. Extremely. To the Max with a limit of infinity.

 You don't need to know a word of Japanese (I sure don't, and I play the game constantly).  Just search for Jump Ultimate Stars on gamefaqs.com and you will find a full FAQ.  It's not at all tough.  I memorized all the menus within 3 days of owning the game (with the help of the FAQ).  The only thing I needed the FAQ for was story mode mission requirements, and it was easy to read and quick.  Trust me, you won't regret getting the game.  If you do get it Ben, I'll trade FC's with you :)



Fighting games on the DS haven't been very good to play (control-wise) and going with a stylus control could make it way too light for me gameplay wise. I don't like the idea of a DS SSB. Also, if is gonna be one it's gonna be in a while to separate it from the console version coming soon.

Looks very good, but is not as hetic as Smash and moves a bit strange(Smash is a fit fluent). The only problem is can they make up those gaps to make a great Smash game.

Not to say JUS is bad, and is a step in the right dirrection. I think if they tried they could make a Smash Bros DS.

Honestly, you can't really understand if you don't play it.  The game is very often faster than smash (especially online).  The moves are strange because they are the moves of anime characters lol.



I reckon the only reason we haven't heard about SSB is because Nintendo are still pacing themselves. I guarantee an eventual SSB:DS and also an F-Zero DS. I just have to pray they come next year instead of 2 or 3 years from now.

Think about it though, does SSB really need an analog stick?  The d-pad on the DS lite would be more than enough to make it work just as well.  X,Y,A, and B to do the different attack moves (along with the ussual directional moves) and then L would shield, and R would grab. Ta Da!!!  You got the whole setup. Make it Wi Fi (duh) and you would have number 1 selling DS game in a week.  I was thinking of this a long time ago, and I still would love the idea of this.  *dreuls....

Super Smash really does need the analog stick...that's why it's called a "Smash" move.

Unless they changed the gameplay, which honestly I wouldn't mind, it would need to use the touchpad to do certain smashes, or just abandon a lot of moves.

Let's say you want to punch forward in SSB.

You can press A. That does a weak forward punch that usually combos about 3 times, culminating in a third, stronger punch.

Or you can press forward (right/left) on the analog stick and A at the same time. This will give you a moderate punch forward, significantly stronger than a standard A punch.

Or you can smash forward (right/left) on the analog stick and press A at the same time...smashing is a very quick tap. This gives the strongest punch...the punch that will likely knock someone off the screen.

The advantages to using weaker punches and kicks is for more fluid motion. You can jump over someone, smack them down in mid-air, do a smash-down move, then perhaps a weak in-air A kick, then perhaps another smash-down move...etc. The game would be too bulky and slow if the only moves available were smash attacks.

Yeah, smash moves are the only thing JUS doesn't have.  They just had special moves which were used by hitting the X button (or up and the X button for an alternate special).  But it did have a variety of moves for the Y and A buttons, and just like smash they were A, Over A, Down A, Up A and Y, Over Y, Down Y, Up Y.  So obviously the game would need tweaking but it does show a basic working version of the Smash formula on a DS game.  You could always use L and R to help with the smash moves, or the touch screen.
