Forums - Sony Discussion - ecurb opinion on: Final Fantasy Tactics on PSP..its extremely hard! HELP!

the only advice I can come up with is that early in the game you need to level up between main story segments, if not you will get your ass kicked.

I haven't played FFT, but I've played both FFTA games and both are pretty easy. Real strategy is almost never required and most missions are a walk in the park. I don't think that there's much difference between the PS1/PSP games and the GBA/DS games in terms of difficulty.

There's a lot of differences between the two. In fact, aside from the basic battle framework the two have zero in common.

@ecurbj: If you want, I can tell you the incredibly cheap and easy way to make your team God-like in just an hour. Alternatively, I can tell you how to strenghten up quickly enough to make the rest of the game easier to go through, but still challenging (up to chapter four, anyway, when all challenge goes out the window). Let me know which you prefer.

I would prefer the first option on having the God-Like in just an hour.

And spdk1, yea I think I just jump straight into the story segments and get thrashed and then get highly pissed off at the game quick.

Someone just isn't hardcore enough for FFT. I mean, it's not that hard. FFT is the only SRPG that i've ever played.

Of course there is.

The GBA/DS is for kiddies.  So it's easier.

You must not have played many games then (you don't own either, do you?) :P

Why don't you have a DS? It has better games than ever other system.

you sure about that?

The PSP has the best selection of Strategy/RPG's...

ahh tactics the best final fantasy by far.. to really get a grasp of the game make sure you get the turn order right and swarm an enemy don't just 1 on 1 yours guys the opponents won't. Honestly it is quite a bit harder in the beginning and doesn't let up till...well you will figure it out as soon as you get him. Just participate in random battles at the beginning.

Alright, here's what you'll need then. First, you'll need at least two, preferably three, characters with the "Throw Rock" ability (You can get it cheaply with squires). You'll also want at least one character that knows how to use items, especially potions and phoenix downs. If any of your characters has 300 Job Points available for the Squire class, teach them "Accumulate." It is, bar none, the cheapest and quickest way to level in the game. All of the characters you want to level up should get this ASAP, so if anyone lacks the job points needed, get into a few random battles with them as squires until they reach 300, then buy Accumulate. Once all five characters have it, convert them into whatever job you want to level up, but make sure their secondary skill is the Squire's class ability (it's name escapes me, but it lets you use Accumulate, which is all that matters).

Now, get into a random battle in the Plains level (the one next to your starting city). If you see at least one yellow chocobo amongst the enemy, you're good to go. If not, restart and keep trying until you get into such a battle. Kill all of the enemies EXCEPT that chocobo, then corner the chocobo somewhere so it can't escape. Using one or two characters, use the Throw Rock ability, or other weak attacks, to weaken it, BUT MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T DIE. When it's weakened, it'll cure itself and any characters next to it, so you'll have enough free healing to take whatever attacks it uses.

For the characters who aren't pestering the chocobo, use "Accumulate" every turn. Don't have them move or do anything else unless absolutely necessary. Every time you do this, they automatically gain 10 EXP and 10 Job Points. Keep doing this until you get as many job points as you want with that class, or until you're bored. With this method, you'll be gaining a level with each character every two minutes, tops, and the EXP never decreases, so you can go up to level 99 if you have lots of patience. Personally, I recommend stopping when you accumulate enough job points to unlock the stronger classes (Lancer, Calculator, Dancer, Ninja), then ending the battle, switching classes, and starting all over again, but it's up to you. Keep on leveling until you feel you're high enough (you can beat the game around level 40 with ease, for what it's worth). And that's that. Let me know if you have any questions, or if you want to know how to beat the hardest boss in the game with ease.

I found the game easy and the plot simple, but that is because I read the game is hard, so I read up on it wia wikipedia and gamfaqs. Also, I played FFTA.
Stick wiht it, it gets really fun. Also, imo magic sucks. Get a ninjas, learn dula weild, max chemist, laearn auto potion, and make everyone duel wielding barehanded monks. Or everyone doublhanding dragoons with the samuari dodge everything ability. Either works extremely well and is easy.

Oh, and two more things. Whoever's next to the chocobo can NOT have Counter equipped, and when their level is high enough that the chocobo isn't really hurting them, feel free to have them use Accumulate as well, so they can get in on the leveling fun.

The DS has so many more RPGs than the PSP. If not I wouldn't have got a DS and gotten a PSP instead.

Out of the so many RPG's how many of them got high review scores?

Thanks noname, I will not give up now that you have showed me that technique.

I'm popping it right back into my PSP and giving it another try and using your method above.
