Forums - Sony Discussion - I'll never buy a game for my PS3

Ok, slightly provocative title, but its sentiment is true enough for me.  I spend 95% of my gaming time on a MMOLRPG called Final Fantasy XI (PC version), and the rest on my Wii.

Ew.  You have my sincerest condolences.

My neighbor has done the same thing... He bought a PS3 soley for the Blu-Ray player last year and hasn't bought any games save one: GT5:P. I've shown him how to download demos on PSN and loaned him a couple of games but I don't see him turning the corner and being an avid game purchaser any time soon as he is also an MMO PC game player and doesn't do FPS on consoles... I wonder what percentage of PS3s today are sold and become a media center? I'm trying to go down that road myself but just don't have the time at the moment.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

What server are you on in FFXI?

Seems like a waste of money. You should have waited for cheaper Blu-ray players, and for the price of Blu-ray titles to drop.

actually no, if he specifically wanted a media center then a straightforward BD player would not have accomplished this. and any comparable media hub with BD capabilities is a helluva lot more expensive than the PS3.

OT: I think saying that you'll NEVER buy a game is being closed minded, though I think you are being less than literal and just making your point. Anyways it's an awesome choice for a central media hub, I use mine in the same capacity, just not as elaborate, I sure would get a kick out of your setup. Though of course I also use it for gaming, but it gets more use as a BD player and web browser(using Firefox, running off YellowDog).

Heh, well each to their own (WoW fan?).  FFXI has kept my wife and I busy for about 3 years now, and we've met many good friends around the world (usually around the same age as us, ie, over 35s).  I don't know if you've ever played it, if you have you'll recognise the time we've put into it just from our progress - 3 jobs at lvl 75 (RNG, MNK and COR), PLD at 70, NIN at 66, WAR at 41 etc, and thats just me, my wife does all the mage jobs (WHM, RDM at 75, BLM at 58).

I prefer putting alot of time into fewer games (although our time in FFXI is massively excessive, I'd be the first to admit).  I did manage to complete RE4 on the GC and Wii, and Zelda on the Wii, although god knows where I found the time.  One day I'll get round to playing Metroid and Galaxy which have been sitting idle ever since I bought them (no thanks to FFXI)

I'll never buy an BD movie for my PS3!!!!....

Seriously now, I have yet to buy a BD movie for my PS3, I have rented like 5 in the past 10 months that I've had it.  Movies:gaming use for me is like 10:90.

Then again I don't buy a lot of movies to begin with anyways.  My DVD collection is only at 10.

PSN: EDguila
