Forums - Microsoft Discussion - xbox 360 will not be around come 2010!

I'm (personally) starting to wonder what Microsoft's long term strategy really is, given that they don't seem to be interested in reducing the price of the XBox 360 and instead favour introducing a new model at the same price ...

I wouldn't be (that) suprised to see Microsoft introduce a follow-up system that was more powerful than the XBox 360, but based on the same basic architecture (therefore creating full backwards compatibility), and tried to do a "seemless" release of a next generation system; potentially designed so XBox 360 games could take advantage of the next system's additional processing power.

I and many others feel that the games are far better on the PS3... And that high tech black box isn't quiet so big next to my 60" Sony HDTV... it's all relative ;)

OT: you're analysis is greatly oversimplyfied and frankly naive, sorry, they're not going anywhere.

I don't think they would do such a move: To have the 360 and another console readily available so soon? Market confusion, as well as confusing the developers.

The fail rate for the 360 was as high as 37%. Sure they have done some mods but it has not been long enough for us tell how much the situation has improved. They should have done a complete redesign, I ve still got a nes in working order 20+ years done the track. I dont see the 360 lasting that long. Im very surprised that a government did not make them do a total product recall, but I guess the money of M$ would stop that.

The tc has a point, a consoles life span is about 5 years. It launched in 05 so they may release a new one on 2010 or 2011, remember they only kept the xbox going for 4 years.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

Microsoft has fixed the problem

but it cost them over a billion dollars

So WAT THE FUCK ARE U SAYIN

Worst... arguement... ever

Have you seen the Ps3? it is actually sexy, very sexy, much nicer to look at than the 360 and as for size it is much more sleeker which gives it the appearence of being smaller too.

i was just saying that the ps3 is oversized and btw rrod is a thing of the past

HA! I really wonder some times if people are serious when they say that.

I believe this simply because of the trends showing us that the xbox 360 is no longer a compelling product, with a 25% failure rate it does not seem like a wise investment. if you compare the 60gb xbox 360 for $349 to the $399 ps3 with 80gb storage, blu ray, wifi, free online, browse the internet, etc. you get all this for an extra $50 therefore there is no incentive to purchase 60gb xbox 360, and it will soon become a thing of the past and the xbox 360 will no longer be in the console race come 2010!!

this is my opinion and my analysis, anyone agree or disagree, why????

Where do you get the 25% failure rate?

Also, isn't the 360 $299 now?
