Well i agree with most of u guys there. I think its a combination of things.

1) PS3 looking more affordable
2) PS3 looking like better value for money (BLU Ray, Games and Motion Controls/ best of both the Wii and 360)
3) Offers more 1st party Exclusives
4) Is not made by Satan (A lot of people don't like MS for being too powerful and trying to take over everything)
5) MS is generally losing out on a hell of a lot of their businesses such as; Internet to Google and at the same time paying out shit loads to try compete and fail; losing their monopoly to Apple in terms of software and hardware and last but not least, paying out for Exclusives as a hope to keep hold of their lead on the PS3 and failing to have much of an effect.
6) the brains behind MS (Bill Gates) has left the building to do charity work. A lot of people don't see MS being the powerhouse it once used to be.
7) The console doesn't offer much apart from 3 key games; GoW, Forza and Fable. The other consoles have far more on offer. I believe I don't need to make a list as every gamer should know.

as part of a charity work I put myself on I'm doing to make up for my fanboyism during the E3 week. X_x

1. 360 should look more affordable at $300 for now.
3. Nintendo technically has more first party exclusives, though they don't talk about them often.
5. To counteract that, I know a few people that own a 360 because it is "American." Some view it as patriotic somehow.
6. Bill gates has little to nothing to do with the 360. If I recollect right, he thought Halo 3 was coming out the day that the PS3 was going to come out.
7. Fable 2, Star Ocean (now), Banjo-Kazooie, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Portal: Still Alive, Mass Effect, and there are a few others. The characters aren't as well known but they are still supposed to be pretty good.

its enough to say that 360 have far more exclusives & the consoles meant for playing not for watching movies.

1) Far more timed exclusives

2) More timed exclusives that mean less to general gamers

3) Bill gates WAS MS and he was the money maker for MS. Doesn't matter what he knew about the 360 and what he didn't. The money was still coming from his success and being filtered down through the ranks.

4) Nintendo does have more Exclusives, but i was talking about the 360 and ps3. I apologise for not making it clear.

5) i didn't say MS doesn't have many Exclusives, I said the MS has less hard hitting exclusives.

6) yes the console is for playing games and not watching movies but this thread is to do with why MS is not doing so well, not about what the console can and cannot do. If you were to be honest with yourself and not defend the console so much and look into why it's not doing well, you would appreciate the points i have made rather then make irrelevant posts and replies.

7) Before you blame me for being a fanboy, I am not. If you want to, make a post about why PS3 is doing poorly and i will do the same as i did here for the 360.

I didn't accuse you of being a fanboy. Last week I started acting kind of crazy for some reason and I was in a fanboyish state so I was attempting to redeem myself by playing devils advocate. I personally don't have anything against 360.

The 360 exclusives are pretty good exclusives when it comes to sales. They've beaten 360 in software almost every week over the last year. I honestly prefer Sony to MS but I completely understand how they feel. I get offensive (obviously) when people tell me PS3 has no good exclusives. So I can kind of understand what they're talking about.

sorry dude, the reply was meant for you and NNN04. so not all the points i made were aimed at you. My apologies.

i wonder how the sales will look like when there's a 100$ price drop on the ps3.

it's not doing poorly, it's in it's best year sales-wise

Compared to a similar time-frame last year (6th of Jan '07 -> 21th of July '07 against 5th of Jan '08 -> 19th of July '08)) it managed to increase it's sales by ~51% (2.46M vs 3.71M) according to VGChartz

it's just, that the other consoles had a larger increase, which obviously is because it's their 2nd year, while the 360 is in it's 3rd year

edit: I just realized, that the hardware numbers for the week ending the 19th of July '08 aren't complete yet, so the sales increase of the 360 should be even a bit better

Um, 360 is doing really well, at the start of the generation I had thought sales would have started dropping off quite quickly by this point

Obviously 1.3 million MORE consoles than last year, doesn't mean anything to some people.

People are probably waiting for the price cut + no big exclusive lately AFAIK.

PS3 is probably also starting to look like a better deal, I guess.

I agree.  If I buy one it will be if a new bundle comes out and or another price drop.

$250 is the most I have spent for a system and always got at least one game with it.

As far as PS3 goes, I think a lot of their hardware is more a Blu-Ray purchase than anything else.

2 people I work with own a PS3 and don't even like videogames.  (If yu want to add a mental flame here go ahead :) )

Of course it's doing better than it did last year, however, the PS3 has been besting the 360 for months. Now we're seeing higher sales in the Other sections than America.

1) It is doing much better than last year, so it is not really doing poorly. PS3 is just finally starting to sell.
2) Summer months are slower.
3) Saturation of the hardcore market. See the focus on casual at E3.
4) People want a price cut.

Its been on the market for almost 3 years and it is still $300 (or more) for the fully functional XBox 360 ...

In the last generation (roughly) 80% of consoles were sold at $199 or lower, it is reasonable to suspect that a console that stays above $200 for long enough will see sales shrink at a pretty steady pace because it has saturated the market at that price.
