Metroid Prime 3: Corruption details

Reader NDAninja has the most recent issue of Play, and inside they talk a good amount about Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It appears they got to play it at Nintendo’s Media Summit.

SPOILERS!

- First level - You are attacked on a spaceship while meeting with the ship’s captain…action packed

- Play feels motion controls work better than dual joystick

- Super sensitive pointer in “advanced” mode

- Beam stacking ala Super Metroid

- Visor switch: Hold minus and flick Wiimote in certain directions

- Boss fight with Ridley at the end of the first level. Excellent difficulty curve by the time you reach the boss.

- Back tracking in MP3:C makes more sense than in previous Primes

- Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted “Twilight Princess” levels of polish. Game is focused on Metroid fans and hardcore gamers, but still accessible to newcomers due to controls.

- Second level - floating city focused on exploration

- Larger environments, bloom lighting, better textures than Prime 2

- Corruption Mode not available in demo

- Play says it could be the biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo.

Looks very promising. I was worried the controls might work badly if they rushed the game, but they've had all the time in the world to polish it to perfection. Hopefully. =P

This is really the first "hardcore" first party game on the Wii, so a lot of people are watching this carefully. If it's awesome developers will know FPS works well on the Wii, but if not then they might be discouraged.

All good, i just don't know about the (-) button combined with flicks..hope  that  does not screw your camera angle. And i was hoping to hear superb graphics not "better than Echoes".  The other details though sound awsome.

btw, how was Halo revolutionary for FPS? Good yes, but it's not Doom,Quake or Goldeneye.

Still no word on an online multiplayer then...

Interesting...

It was "confirmed" a while back that there was going to be no multi-player, but that might've been fake. Wikipedia seems to be confused as well.

Multiplayer would boost sales.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Hmmm. Just thought I would point out the "Nintendo Media Summit" bit. Sound familiar to anyone?

Project Hammer canned/changed.... tick.

Got to play Metroid Prime at the NMS.... tick.

Now I'm just waiting for confirmation that Prime will have downloadable content/levels, Nintendo announce Vision Red ... see some vids, and I'll be happy :)

I sincerely hope Metroid DOESN'T have online/multiplayer. I just want an awesome single-player Metroid experience for now - and nothing to distract from it.

They can release a 'Hunters' type game in the future once this one is out...

It's not a big deal to me if it has multiplayer...but it would certainly boost sales...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
