Much has been written about Nintendo's disappointing E3 showing which left out core gamers and focused on games for the new audiences. The interviews with Reggie Fils-Aime and Cammie Dunaway after the media summit didn't help to calm down raging Nintendo fans who were demanding information on new games of their beloved franchises. At least Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Pikmin 3 is in the works which suggests that the game is already quite far into development and ready for a 2008 release. But there's more to come a reliable source told us.
An F-Zero developed by the same team that made F-Zero X on the Nintendo 64 is almost done and will be officially announced at the Games Convention in Leipzig next month. The game will support various control setups, feature more than 20 tracks and is supposed to be even faster than previous installments of the franchise. Story mode has been removed, but in return online play has been added which will allow players all around the world to race each other on the challenging courses of the game.
"Do a barrel roll!", who doesn't remember this quote? Star Fox will be back this year, with an all new game that will try to take the series back to its roots. This means no adventure and no on foot missions anymore. The game will feature various routes to reach the final level and imaginative boss battles. Online multiplayer is a first for the series on a home console and will allow up to 16 players to participate in heated dogfights. More information on the game will be revealed at the GC along with an exact release date.
Nintendo is not stoppable in terms of peripherals and will release a pedometer bundled with Wii Walk in the Park later this year. The perfect game for rainy days, at least according to our source. Overall 2008 seems to be a pretty good year to be a Nintendo fan. Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii have been released in the first half of the year and with Pikmin 3, F-Zero Wii and Star Fox Wii, we are looking forward to a great holiday season.
