Forums - Gaming Discussion - A scary thought about Square-Enix's Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360

Another thing is that if the game isnt dumbed down it can come in a neat 50Gb Blu Ray ...and the X360 version be a 7 disc thing more expensive and with worse controls(the DS3 pad is better ).....the 360 may have bitten more than it can chew this time.

I would normally have agreed with you... it is the same with every game... except... It's widely acknowledge and hyped that Versus will be better than the core FF XIII. More over, there is a chance that Versus might come out before the Core since it is only now that they will begin work on the Xbox version.

I realise they said it was gonna be a port of the PS3 version but even with that in mind, there will be a lot of work to adapt a gave designed for such a different architecture as the CELL vs the tri-core Xenon. We all know how badly a port can be when Valve made by far the worst PS3 game in Half-life.

SE will likely not allow the Xbox port to be as bad as Valve did and as such, I believe they will take all the time necessery to perfect the game so that it is relatively close in quality than the PS3 version.

Since the FF XIII is less than a year away from release in Japan, I would say it would be safe to assume that Versus will not be very far away.

@Fei-Hung and others: FFXIII could be released at its full potential on XB360 too so to push RRoD vulnerable units beyond their thermal limits and brick them, for example.

People are really finding creative ways to convince themselves that FFXIII on the 360 "isn't that bad...".

Maybe Sony should release Resistance, LBP & GT5 on the 360?

...

The reality is that this announcement by SQE may mark the flood of exclusives becoming non-exclusives for both consoles. In the end, all 3rd-party titles will either come to both HD consoles (or the Wii) - or titles will need to IPs owned by the platform holder (or have huge amounts of money exchange hands).

Ahem, I like to be sarcastic about MS legendary reliability , but I don't need to reassure myself in any way, sales will tell us the effect of MS' remarkable (here I'm not sarcastic, if they had a role in SE decision it's a good move) achievement.

About exclusives becoming less and less, I already agreed in previous msgs in other threads, as neither of the two HD consoles has a great share, hardcore games generally need both to thrive.

Where is that acknowlegded? We got pretty much nothing from FFVSXIII compared to FFXIII. FFVSXIII is behind in development compared to FFXIII and will stray a lot from the typical FFs, bot in flair and combat. Also FFXIII looks better than it´spin-off, as FFvsXIII seems plagued by Nomura´s emo-sickness.

I bet the xbox360 version won´t take long because FFXIII is developed on PC, actually that´s why most of the translating team concentrates on the PS3 version because they know how long it will take.

the PS3 version will be better than the 360 version and we get Versus exclusively dont we

One is called Final Fantasy XIII. The other is called Final Fantasy XIII Versus. No matter what you think, the majority of the audience will *perceive* it is a spin-off. Spin offs are never *perceived* as better than their original namesakes. Unless you can make an argument otherwise for how the general population will perceive the game, this whole argument is moot.

Also, Seeing as there's this whole "complete experience" debate going on. Please tell me how much more GTA IV sold on the 360 strictly because of it's DLC or how much more Fallout 3 is going to sell on the 360 strictly because of it's exclusive DLC. I mean, come on, the PS3 doesn't have the "complete experience" so it must be a huge factor right?
