That and i think you overestimate their exclusivity.

FFV13 is likely no longer exclusive, but square is waiting until shortly before FF13 is released (or shortly before FFV13) to announce it for more impact.

 

 

I don't think they've made a decision yet at all, but are just taking a "wait and see" approach.

If FFXIII comes out and sells like 4:1 on the PS3 (not saying this will happen) and the PS3 Userbase is booming (compared to the 360) then I think it will stay Exclusive.

If the PS3 version outsells the 360 version 1.5:1 and the userbases are still close in EU/NA, then it probably would go Multi.

But since this is all 2+ years away, a lot can happen.

Well,
Umm I think actually he may have a point here.
How could Sony be blindsided by this.
Both square and sony are really pushing that sony knew nothing and were very surprised. Meanwhile Sony has devs inside S-E working to help move things along and they control a tenth of the company....
I dont know for certain if the OP is right, but something is very off here. And it's not that 360 "won" ff13.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is not a Spin-Off

it is just two different Director's who wanted to each make their own vision of FFXIII.

 

tetsuya nomura, takes the director lead here.

but he is the char designer for both.

i expect versus to be better in story.

Last remnant however, is a different game entirely. Since SE are so fond of backstabbing, Microsoft should be worried what they have in mind. If their move was motivated by money, there would be less worries I believe...

As for the impact of FFXIII, I forgot which research paper it was, but it's considered to be in the top 10 franchies alongside Zelda, NFL, Need for Speed, GT, Halo and Mario. I think it would be a mistake to underestimate the impact FF XIII can have.



I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

Yup Nomura is directing one, Kitase is the other

If I remember correctly Nomura did the story for FF7 and directed Kingdom Hearts

Kitase Directed FF7 and FF8, was behind FF10 as well.

Hiroyuki Ito directed did FF9 and FF12

With each of the three having their core teams.

If Lost Odyssey, a brand new IP with average reviews can sell nearly a million in only 4 months, imagine what a behemoth like FF XIII will sell like 2 years from now when the user base will be significantly bigger! WoW!

i predict 8-9 million for ps3 or near to it lifetime.

and possibly 2 million on 360 lifetime.

RE: ff13 versus, may go multiplat. it really does seem now that analysts were right ages ago in that huge 3rd party exclusives will be a thing of the past.

the only games that will indefinatly remeain exclusive are 1st party games owned and funded by thier respected companies, or games like gears series or resistance series for example that arnt 1st party.... but are 3rd partys heavily funded and supported to develop specifcly on thier platform.

Yeah it is. Or are we gonna consider Agito XIII not a spin-off then? FF XIII is the main series...Agito XIII, Versus XIII, etc. are spin-offs (though Versus at least looks better than FF XIII >_> lol). It's either a spin-off or it isn't.

 

Spin-off to me implies a direct link to the prior game in one way or another. FFVersus13 is to be an Independant story altogether, just taking place in the same Universe. I also feel that calling Versus a spin-off discredits the game before it is even made.


Considering both games are being developed concurrently, I don't view Versus as a true spin-off
