I'm not sure how they decide what gets tracked as what, but MGS4 bundles aren't being tracked as software sales. We might get the total from Sony's Press Release if we're lucky.

 

Are you sure? So they will just count consoles sold and not MGS4? In this case expect lower NPD numbers for MGS4.

Yeah, it was mentioned in the OP of this month's neogaf prediction thread:

Important Note: NPD does not include system bundles with software totals, so MGS4 PS3 bundles won't be counted toward the MGS4 software total.

someone said MGS4 had great sales, that has to be the best quote of 2008 thus far! How is a game that is an A++ game that got mostly 10/10 scores ONLY selling 700K? Hell look at the sales of Halo 3 and COD4 and compare it. In 1 WEEK Halo 3 sold 4x what MGS4 sold in a month. How can that be seen as good exactly? What happened with that thing were they said MGS4 had to sell 1m in USA in a week? However you look at it i don't think the folks at Konami are going to look on at those sales with a smile on their face. Maybe that comment that MS guy said the other day about asking Konami if MGS4 was coming to 360 meant something now?

What were Konami's worldwide sales expectations?  It's at 2.2 million right now, which has probably made them somewhere in the neighborhood of $30M.  Anyone know what it cost to make?  Probably more than that I would imagine.

As a point of reference - at the same time since launch, the PS2 was doing:

Apr-03 260,000
May-03 290,000
Jun-03 430,000

Aug-03 290,000

Wii is expanding it's lead every month (on a same time period).

PS2 best non-xmas period was in the lead up to Xmas 2, when they dropped the price in May 02

Apr-02 190,000
May-02 490,000
Jun-02 690,000
Jul-02 440,000
Aug-02 450,000

Stickball I don't know if you saw but Microsoft announced lifetime to date shipments for Xbox 360 through June 30, 2008 today - 20.3m. 8.7m shipped from July 1 2007 to June 30 2008.
