Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 b/c what now.....

With the recent announcement that NEW 80gb models will no longer support b/c im confused if b/c is dead on ps3?

I started a thread on this a week or two ago but now I'll just list the games Im gonna buy for the ps2 and ask if they will be supported on any PS3.

On another note do the new PS3s come with Dualshock 3 or SIXAXIS

Devil May Cry: 5th Anniversary Collection
Final Fantasy X-2
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts II
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
Shadow of the Colossus
Tales of the Abyss
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria
Zone of the Enders 1-2

What PS3 will I need to buy to play these games? I was gonna buy the MGS bundle that I found for around $450 but if it can play these games than Im not.

i believe there is supposed to be two still, they just made another eighty gb console, if you buy the mgs4 bundle then you definately have b/c, all of those have it implemented

the mgs4 bundle comes with a dualshock.

20, 60, or 80gb will play those games. but you can only find those models on ebay.

you can play all those games on MGS4 80 Gb PS3,,,,it's now about 95%BC with PS2 (After the firmware 2.4)

the next shipment of MGS4 bundles will come at the end of this week or begining of next week.

Yeah, I can't remember, and I don't feel like checking, but I'm almost positive that they just did away with the 40gb version of the console, or rather just started putting the 80gb hard drives in the systems that aren't b/c, and kept them the same price, so you can either get an 80gb with no b/c and a sixaxis controller for 399 or a 80gb with b/c, dualshock 3, and mgs4, for 499

They said they just recently stopped production on the current 40gb and will replace thoes when they sell out with th 80gb without b/c. You can still get a current 80gb MGS4 ps3 with B/c and dual shock 3 right now. do it if you have the chance as the bundle wont last forever.

I'm assuming there will be two options, seeing as how they label the new 80gb the "core" version. So we should have:

80 gb MGS4 bundle with BC
80 gb core with no BC

If they drop BC, it would be another stupid decision.

Lots of people claimed Sony will continue to improve bc on the PS3 with software to defend them for taking out the EE chip.

Now, Sony announced to totally drop bc.

What's the new defense?

@Galaki -- SONY will eventually add software BC -- not this year but in the future...

Ohh but i agree the new 80gb ver is a bad idea ...
