Forums - Microsoft Discussion - VGChartz Members Failure rates.

dgm: You may joke about my ability to strike people down, but I have finally finished my software that lets me punch people over TCP/IP. And clearly, once this poll is finished I'll present it right away to the media, get interviews with CNN about reliable hardware figures...

Or, just be what it is, taking information from a small sample population (VG Chartz Members that own a XboX360) and seeing how it turns out. I do not expect this to generalize very far, but it gives a picture for this community at the very least. If that is a problem, you get bothered by very weird things.

Current Results: 7 failures/19 replies.

ok.i'm gonna add to the list big time.my son and i still love our 360,but this is getting absolutely rediculous.also i would never buy a pee(wii) as i have more fun doing this in the bathroom with my mustang magazine.first 360 was a core unit bought nov.18th 2005 on ebay brand new with a seperate hard drive.died from the famous xbox update that bricked some systems.not knowing about the updated warranty i proceeded to take it apart and save the working internals(dvd drive, heatsink, fans.)i then purchased a premium at walmart when they had a $75 gift card thingy going there when you bought a premium system.played well till the 3 rings of death hit me,but this time i had the 2 year extended warranty from microsoft.sent that back in on may 18th,2007.returned on may 28th.got to play that system till june 16th,2006 (not even a month)and now has a dvd drive failure that scratched call of duty 3 pretty bad and is currently waiting for the dreaded "BOX" to show up for shipping.so now you can add 3 more to the total broken 360's and probably 1 more in about 3 months or so when halo 3 taxes the system to the max.supposedly you can renew the warranty for 1 or 2 years after it runs out again.wonder how much they'll nail you for that?i wonder if i can use the lemon law to push for a brand new system after 3 failures?anyone ever hear of that being tried?

I've heard guestimates from 30%-60%

Sorry about your issues Bfisher, but I'm partially only going with the yes or no type question per person, not how many overall have failed. So you only add 1.

So new total is 8/20, or 40%.

if you want true failures you really should use all system failures.microsoft gets their 3% by doing the type of poll you are doing.counting people instead of total failures.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Why not count people who have had 5 or 6 consoles fail??? it's still another 1 out of 1 that failed, it's a different console

If I own 6 consoles and 4 of them fail that's 4/6

If 6 people own 6 consoles and 4 out of the fail that's still 4/6

You should count people who have had MORE than one fail...

I like this thread, I just think it should take into account the REAL evidence rather than only taking 1 per person...

I think it's good to see what the failure rate is in our community, but everyone should keep one thing in mind before this info gets twisted in support of how much someone either "Loves [or Hates] the Box" -- this is not a scientific poll.

Yes, this is clearly not a perfect thread. This is also online and I can't guarentee anything people say. Maybe in a day or two, I'll get bored and look at total failure rates as people have said, but I like keeping it simple. No hersay, just you, have you owned a console, has it broke.

When you have that many breaking down its the persons fault not the manufactorer
