Forums - Microsoft Discussion - VGChartz Members Failure rates.

Glitches happen, and I'm not counting those, so long as the console is still alive. If anyone reads, 3 failures, 11 no bricks, 14 responses.

I got the rings alright.. right after i finished playing Gears of WAr..... it sucked really sucked.. my friend had his fail too.. he kept his closed in though ...so thats probably why... that story about the ps3 killing the 360 is true.. the 360 cant stand too much heat.. I still own the console though but sometimes it scares me..

I'm (probably) buying one as soon as I hear those heatsinks are standard, and the price has dropped to 299.

Mine died once, and I got it back in a couple of weeks, it was before I got my Wii and before I had my ps3, longest two weeks ever ;)

I got my 360 in December of 2005. My disk tray refused to stay closed in November of 2006. MS sent me a new 360 free of charge. No problems with my new unit.

Edit: Glad to see you back Staticneuron

This is nonsense. The vast majority of the people love the box. Hadn't you heard?

ROTFLMFAO.... I am gonna get my co worker on here to post, 4 dead machines since launch, they did give him an elite last time he went back though(through bestbuy NOT MS) I know that you're not counting that, please don't bother telling me the obvious.

Never had a problem with mine (except when I decided it didn't look good were it was while playing a game of G.R.A.W. needless to say, that game isn't that playable anymore)

You know I was joking right Viz? I was poking fun at MS' hardware support guy. He was asked to comment on the failure rates -- and rather than saying anything substantive, he said: "We think the vast majority of people love the box. They're having a great time."

It was just such a funny comment, so totally devoid of any substance.

quit crying about people mentioning thier friends. you sound like a whinny biatch.

and my friend had to return his after 2 weeks, wouldnt read any discs . he only kept his 2nd one for 2 more weeks before selling it from general lack of interest. he has since bought a PS2.

AHHH he mentioned a friend, follow the rules or Fuzzy will strike you down!!

and you know for a poll like this to have any kinda ground to stand on you will need 500+ responses. you are trying to treat this like some kinda scientific poll, get a clue man

Well I just figure, the failure rates mean you need to add a extended warranty as a required purchase, thus intreasing the price you need. On my 2nd one, I got the walmart 2 year extended for 18$, that starts after the MS 1 year. So 3 years for 18$, which is a good bet you'll use. When you do use it, you'll get the newest model of the time and it's higher reliability, and thus a longer overall useage. So You'll looking at 1.5-3 years before you get your replacement form the warranty and that will come with a 1 year from that,so you get 2.5 minimum working length for 18$ Not bad, and considering the (probably) higher reliability of the later models, It could very well last until the end of the generation. I'd estimate the minimum average working duration at 4 years for 18$ is a safe bet.

In the long run, having a high failure rate, than becomes a low failure rate is good for warranty purchaser's, cuz you get a new improved one down the line for the price of the warranty + some patience.

Just my 2 cents.
