Forums - Sony Discussion - $2.99 is good for movie rentals(on PS store),isn't it?

yea but still up to 1 hour for full download?

How fast do you download at torrents, I wonder?

I usually do 40 minutes to an hour for any movie too, so I don't see the difference with this service Sony is providing, aside from the fact that I can't watch 1 minute after starting my download with torrents...

...1 other difference...

What you're doing is illegal!

Also, the service will obviously be limited by your download speed, NOT the quote of "1 hour" from the conference...man...intellect of internet users really going downhill here...

He saud an hour because thats a rough estimation of how long it will take for the average user with a normalish speed broadband connection. I'm on an 8meg one and can download 2GB an hour.

An SD film will be about 1GB I would expect roughly - so for me it would take around half an hour (estimate)....obviusly.

...lol...People hear "1 hour" and think that how long it will take for them...honestly.

It serves as a reference.

Oh my, you, the great intelligent man will tell how it is? The conference even stated that it was just as a reference, so people will "understand" that. And an hour for a movie is NOT long in my book, especially if you can watch it immediately after it starts downloading.

Unless I'm mistaken, oh intelligent one.

Obviously this isn't going to be for everyone, but for some of us it should be pretty good. Can't get netflix up here in Canada (yet) and our closest version Zip.ca doesn't offer downloads. Also, renting a movie from most places up here is like 5$ or 6.5$ for bluray I think.

i cant wait for the store to go up tonight they showed a bond movie on th escreen i neede to see the orignal ones and rent them. Sony Pictures is the advantage ove XBL rental service. 2.99 is not bad but psn cards now more than ever need to get out there.

Its good, but with a 5 dollar a month netflix subscription you can rent all month without a dime extra.

Its $8.99 a month or more depending on your package.

I rent from hollywoodvideos 15 dollars a month for unlimited rentals (5 more dollars for blu ray) and 1 hour download time is kinda like I can wait a hour or just go down to the store and back in 10 mins

The dude at E3 was saying that while the download would take 1 hour to complete, you can start watching after 1 minute.
