then wait a while, DVD sales are starting to flat line

I don't really care about any of the 3 (suppose I care most about DVD), but I would love to see where you got that info. And if that is the case for some odd reason, I'm sure the other two formats have gone down by about the same amounts.

Lol his source is "I love Sony" world.  DVD sales haven't seen a drop at all.  As was stated above, the issue isn't which one wins:  It's if EITHER are enough of an improvement for the mass market to accept them over DVD.

More good news for the HD format(s): columbia house is about to start carrying both BD and HDDVD.

And more news that shows this is still far from over. Fox is scaling back blu-ray releases, now that it's clear blu-ray is not much more secure than DVD.

Now I know security was why they went with blu-ray in the first place, but it's funny to HD entirely, since the hope of it was to make a secure entertainment experience.

Fox has been waiting for BD-ROM for a while now.

Read that article again. It's not about the ROM discs. It's about breaking the security on the films.

this is probably one of the funniest threads i have read.... in my opinion.. blu ray will win..for one reason and one reason only...it has more blockbuster movies coming out for it than hd dvd which is the reason why its dominating hd dvd... i wish this war ends soon because i grow tired of downloading every High definition movie i want..... this fall when all those summer blockbuster movies are released on blu ray i think that will seal the deal for hd dvd....

Just because they sold well doesn't mean they will sell in HD. This my problem with the blu-ray winning arguments, not their conclusion, but that the arguments just plain suck. If you think blu-ray will win, go ahead and say so, but if you support it with a lousy argument, you just look stupid.

Most are unproven predictions supported by half-truths, or by futher unproven predictions, such as your comment. First prove those movies will sell well in blu-ray, but not HD-DVD (since some will be coming out in both), and then you have more support for your claim of victory.

It isn't just which has more movies, but which SELLS more movies, which neither is. And don't give me those 2:1 sales. Any sales department knows that doesn't take individual films sales into account.

I was telling my buddy the other day that there were alot of movies that are on Blu-ray that I already have in my dvd collection that I might like to upgrade. I told him that the only reason I didn't buy all of them (one at a time of course) was because I wasn't sure if Blu-ray would be the winner. Lately he has been telling me that I should buy them anyway because Blu-ray will be the winner. The only other problem I have with the whole HD movie thing is that a sizable amount of my DVD collection are Universal movies :(.

Don't forget to check out the used selection on Amazon, I've gotten about 40 titles used(but only from high rated dealers) with NO probs at all, saving about $5 - $8 dollars per disc, it definitely adds up. When I go to spend a hundred bucks and I can get 5 BDs plus shipping or 4 BDs w/free shipping(directly through amazon) for the same hundred it's an easy choice. Don't worry too much about Unuversal, I beleive I read that their exclusivity agreement is thought to end in December, this would seem to be the smart move.

and if you like charts and graphs as much as I do, check out:
