Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's E3 furthers N's commitment to destroying the industry

Honestly, I have the complete opposite reaction to this ... There are countless third party developers who are highly skilled and talented at producing high quality deep experiences, why does Nintendo have to focus on those elements when so many other developers do such a good job with it?

Nintendo is one of the few companies who can be highly successful while focusing on simply making games fun ... why should they ignore what they're good at and start producing (moronic) highly convoluted story driven games with overly generic gameplay because that is what YOU desire?

Yes, how dare you people enjoy life! Life is to be nothing but misery and introspection. You are not allowed to have friends, play games with each other, and have fun.

You've made it quite clear already how uncultured you are. You have a problem with people wanting something in videogames that we already have in other forms of creation: art and relevance.

Do you know what you sound like?  A snobbish art critic who looks down on comic books.  Get a life, Nintendo isn't doing anything to "destroy" the video game industry.

As silly as the people screaming that Nintendo are destroying the industry or abandoning their fans sound, there was barely anything in the conference aimed for people who've been playing for more than a few years. GTA DS was the only major new announcement, and even that's very likely to be crap.

Then again, they announced Brawl as a suprised after all their other conferences a few years ago. There's still probably going to be something interesting announced... sooner or later.

I really want my 30 minutes back, though.

where can u see da presentations anyway?
i dont know where to watch them. lol thanks to any1 who answers back, ur da best!!!

I can't help but think back to E3 06.

Reggie: "How many of you know somebody who has never read a book? Never watched a movie? Probably nobody. But how many of you know somebody who has never played a videogame?"

If you DTG, want gaming to reach new artistic levels and be accepted as another valid entertainment medium you should applaud Nintendo for trying to expand it to the mainstream. Like you yourself said there are plenty of crap books and movies. They don't ruin your enjoyment of the good ones so why let the existence of Wii Sports 2 ruin your fun playing the games you like?

As much as you say you are worried about the industry's future, people like you are what is ruining the industry. If we kept the same status quo gaming would slowly crumble into even more of a niche industry than it is now.

But seriously folks, we know we lack the culture he speeks of. DTG, can we become cultured fancy lads at Deep Throat Gaming?

Exactly! Video Games aren't about fun, they're about appealing to a mythical standard set aside just for the self-claimed intellectual minority! Curse you Nintendo! How dare you make Video Games that appeal to people other than those who sit around frat lounges playing Halo and Gears of War, work two jobs to feed their World of Warcraft addiction, play Grand Theft Auto like its a religion or view MGS2 as not just a game, but a life changing experience.

To a certain extent, I think Nintendo believes that their "Media Breifing" is a good opportunity to target people who aren't "Core" gamers because it is (potentially) the only part of E3 which gets a lot of mainstream media outlets attention ... Showing off a game (like Brawl) at a different event or behind closed doors will still get a ton of attention from the dedicated gaming press which will get the attention of "Core" gamers.

And quigon is right

LOL at the irony of a "cultured" snob looking down at us while running something called "Deep Throat Gaming" with the tagline "a game site that will tear you a new a**hole".
