Forums - Sony Discussion - Why hasn't Sony secured FFXIII exclusivity?

Well, we all know by now that FFXIII will release on XBox360. Do you think it will affect the quality of the game? Is it the region why the game has been delayed? Do you think Sony should have paid the price to get the exclusivity? Finally, will it affect negatively the sales of PS3?

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

the quality of the game yes, they have to make it on both consoles rather than just focus on the ps3. sony should have paid the price because it tells the consumers that they are still in this thing and they arnt sleeping. it will still drive consoles, but only in japan.

I guess they really don't pay for exclusives...

Man, I bought a PS3 last month, and FFXIII was one of the reasons why. Sony better have some BIG guns lined up! New exclysives are a must. In less than a month, I own every PS3 game I feel is worth buying, and the future doesn't look all that stellar........

I was stunned they didn't lock it up myself, but then it occurred to me that Square-Enix is getting pretty jittery about XIII. The game looks to be absudrly expensive, and the PS3 isn't lighting up the charts, especially in Japan. If I was Squeenix, I'd port it over to the 360 (and PC) to maximize my return.

Of course, I'm a little biased, seeing as how I think the rising development costs of the HD systems is killing gaming, and am willing to see proof where perhaps none exists.

Because Sony is poor. They can't justify spending more money to lock up exclusives when they are bleeding like crazy from the PS3.

Lets all prey for Sony to have a good presentation this E3 , or the show could easily be Microsofts ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Considering the costs of HD games, it seems S-E is just hedging their bets with this. I don't blame them. This game may not come close the budget of GTA IV, but likely high enough that a dual platform release would reduce the risk.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

i guess we will have to wait for sonys e3 show 2mro.

i belive sony must have known well before hand that ff13 is going multiplat but obviously kept quite about it.

no doubt the game on a single bluray will be the better version, but i have a feeling its going to be now gimped to run on 360.

still its shitty news but its not as if its not coming to ps3, i belive ps3 version will sell much much better.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

You may actually be right. HD is killing gaming in a way. Mostly innovation as people do not want to take risks anymore. Sure, there still are XBL arcade or PSN or wiiware but the games are small.
