We haven't even rendered a perfectly realistic scene yet, let alone rendered in real-time. For a real-time rendered scene with a human in it to look identical to real life, I think we need a little over 5 years, and there's plenty of problems (like animation) to get over.

Well, for one real-life graphics will never exist because real life is real life and it's not like there are actually going to be real people on the screen like a movie but the games have been getting far better graphics good examples being Crysis and Rage, but there will always be room to improve, and the PC will ALWAYS have better graphics than consoles, that's not even an opinion it's a fact.

I'm sure it will be the first, but I don't think it will be so soon.

Ug not this nonsense again. I remember when Photo-Realistic graphics were only a couple of years away. But somehow that prerelease marketing for the PS2 never panned out. Hell I remember when the n64 was in development and people thought that would do it.

Frankly the best movies out today don't pass muster with me when they insert cgi for 1 person. And that is many millions spent on prerendering 1 scene.

We are 15-20 years away at best.

I agree the PC riocks but gaming consoles have beome the domainate gaming platfrom cause for the first year they are usually superior to the PC graphics the 2 years on par and the last 2 years they trail.

Not anymore, this generation the consoles were behind from the get go. And today a $450 PC has better graphics than any console.
