Forums - Gaming Discussion - Fight Night to be released on Wii...

In the interview with Doghouse Boxing, EA Sports' Michael Blank, producer of the Fight Night series, was asked whether EA were considering a Fight Night for the Wii and its revolutionary control system. In response to this question, Blank commented: We’re talking about it right now. We’re contemplating and we definitely feel there are some exciting things we can do with the Fight Night franchise and the Wii. When you play Wii Boxing it is a very simple experience and I think that is what they designed it to be just to let you know that you can throw punches. With Fight Night we have an amazing simulation of Boxing and so we need to take those Wii controls and tailor it to what the Fight Night consumer might want to experience. We are looking at it right now and I am sure you will something some time in the future on the Wii. Certainly a good indication that Fight Night will indeed be released on the Wii some time in the future.

If they do, I want to see it play with two wiimotes instead of the wiimote and nunchuck.

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

From what I saw of COD3 on the Wii, I'm not interested in EAs port. It will look terrible, sure it will be great to play, but any ports coming from the PS3 or 360 to Wii are just going to look bad, Wii should stick with ground up games from Nintendo developers. Anyone who has seen FNR3 on 360 or PS3 scaled to 1080p and how it looks with the realistic sweat and muscles textures, lighting, viens, will hate the way it will look on the Wii.

How do you know it'll be a straight port? They game Madden Wii it's own team and seem to be putting a lot of work into Tiger Woods. They've even made the next SSX game Wii exclusive. I imagine a Wii version of Fight Night would be made Ground up.

Maybe, still what I was saying is true if you have seen COD3 which is from EA and was a port and looked absolutely terrible when compared to the 360 and PS3 versions.

I see Stromprophet's point to a degree. Stof is right though. EA has dedicated an entire Studio towards Wii development. Honestly its going to be a matter of whether EA's Wii centric studio takes the time to harness the Wii's hardware as well as develop immersive controls. Madden had the controls but it had a GC game engine as well. We'll just have to see. I mean if the enjoyment of games like Wii Sports is any indication, it may not matter if Wii titles continue to look like GC games in the near term at least.

Well it's obviously not going to have the graphics of the 360/PS3 versions. But that doesn't mean it'll be a worse game. The big issue is going to be how it plays, as you said yourself, it'll probably play great. What interests me more is how different the gameplay will make it from the other versions. Would fight night, or other Mulitplats, give a different enough experience on the Wii to make people consider getting two versions?

I think this could look quite good on the Wii actually. Once you lose the 1080/720 modes, you save a lot of texture space. Sure the Wii will push less polys, but its only 2 characters to be rendered. I may yet eat my words, but I think this will surprise a lot of people with how good it will look. Smart move from EA really. I have never been a supporter of their software (from a total library of maybe 100 titles, I think I only have *1* EA title - and that was a ol'cheapo copy of Harry Potter years back). But after seeing the potential of Wii sports, Im definitely looking out for "deeper" Wii sports titles that are properly executed (esp. golf, boxing & bowling). I just hope they dont wimp out and remove too much blood/gore (i.e. kidify it).

Gesta Non Verba

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

It's very possible for it to look good. EA just has to try. And SSX Blur looks like gold to me...a good combination of great controls and pretty graphics. It wouldn't look as good as the other Fight Nights, but as long as it actually uses the Wii's capabilities...it should be fine. Controls have to be way better than Wii boxing...but I think they shouldn't have a problem with that.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Call of Duty 3 is an Activision game, not EA.
