Gamer Waits Two Years For Xbox 360 Repair

How long is too long when sending your Xbox 360 in for repairs? Some people may start to get frustrated after only two weeks. But according to an XBF member, it took two years to get their console back. … Now this is an odd case to say the least, but one that is still ridiculous. A member of the XBF forums posted today that he had just received his repaired Xbox 360 in the mail. Now this isn’t too uncommon. As many are aware, the 360 does quite a bit of traveling due to the dreaded “RROD”. But considering it took this particular gamer two years to get his console back, this has to be the worst repair turnaround in console history. Below are the gamer’s comments describing his situation:

“… It was the UPS guy so I thought "there my Halo 3 legendary Edition that won from the Xbox live play and win contest". It wasn't as big as the legendary box so I ask what it was and he said "Its an Xbox 360, well thats what most of these ship from this address". I was saying to myself "I got a new Halo 3 Xbox 360. I opened it up and ended up being my launch Xbox 360 that got RROD 2 years ago. the Manufacturing Date says 11-14-05. This xbox 360 I sent in the mail 2 years ago and I never got it back so while that happened I got a new 360 from best buys and that RRODed April 29, 2008. I got that back a couple weeks ago. Now I have 2 repaired Xbox 360s sitting in my room.

I just remembered I looked at my email last week and saw 3 emails.

-I have sent out a box to you [I dont remember getting a box]
-We  have received you xbox 360 and is in repair center
-We have sent out your 360

I was saying to myself M$ must of screwed up with the email so I just forgot about it.
They owe me more than a 1 month subscription of XBL. Maybe $400 or a couple games. “

The XBF Take: First of all, this gamer has some patience to go and buy another console and just forgive MS. But it’s almost too funny that they sent it back two years later with a 1 month gold card like it’s normal. We’ve asked this member to give us a follow up of what happens when they contact MS. For now we’ll file this in the oddest Xbox 360 stories.

Wow....I'm trying to figure out why he just gave up on the repair and didn't hound MS the first time around...or did he?

Was it a shipping error and MS only recently received the unit or did they really have it for 2 years?

If the situation is as bad as it sounds it is pretty ridiculous to say the least.

PS - Some of you folks above need to realise that just because the information isn't in the article doesn't mean the whole thing is dubious.  It means the writer didn't think to ask the same questions or if he did he decided to omit it for a variety of reasons, the least likely of which is to hide some sort of plot to smear MS..because it would ultimately result in him looking like an idiot.

He did notice--that's why he bought the second one.

But that's ridiculous.  First, Microsoft sends the emails when they get the console, not when they ship it back.  So, either it was his mail company's fault for being worthless shits, or he's lying.  More occurrences of this or it didn't happen.

I meant after he got the second one. I would have been on the phone with them every day to get my first one back.
