Forums - Gaming Discussion - Your 1st videogame system and do you still enjoy games as much as before?

My 1st system was the NES,I got it when I turned 5 years old, back in 1989...many fond memories of it and also of the SNES/GENESIS generation...nowadays,I still enjoy gaming, but I feel the fun I get out of the hobby is slowly fading away, even if I don´t want to let it happen :(....well,enough about me,what about you?

My first 'system' was really a PC. I used to play the original C & C, and the original Age of Empires, yes, even at a very yound age I played rts games... Then we got a GBC, and I used to be obsessed with the Pokemon games, although I don't enjoy them as much now... But the first proper videogame console for me was a PS2. And I still enjoy playing games like 007 Nightfire as much as I did then, I find the multiplayer especialy fun on that, because it enables you to have AI players aswell, turning a 2/4 player game into a 6/8 player game.

Atari 2600...

I like them a lot more now... I always said it would be awesome one the videogames actually look real and we are finally at that point. I'm amazed at haw far the industry has come.

When I was a wee kid, my Mom's friend gave us a system which only played Pong. I forget the name of the system.  I don't know if that was an original Pong or what.  If it was, I wish I knew where it went because it
ought to be worth something now. There were no joysticks or anything. You turned some knobs on the system to move your paddle up and down. If that doesn't count as a videogame system, when we got older, we got an Atari 2600.  I don't think I've ever lost my fascination with games.

I started with the NES in 1991, since then I have played a lot, SNES, Saturn, PS, N64, PS2, GC, XBOX, 360 and PC... Kinda love videogames, but with the year the love has been fading away, until the arrive of the Wii and DS, the small difference in the control make feel like a child playing SMB3 for the first time, graphics matters yes, and I am going to Upgrade my PC just to play Crysis (and StarCraft 2), I have already did it just to play Doom 3 (And work too but work is always in second place :P), but the graphics feel will fade away too, the motion causes a feeling an excitement(No, not that kind of excitement) and the child feel is here to stay, I do not know why but I dont care if I look like a Monkey in front of the TV, I just know I wanted, I wanted because make feel excited like a Child again and to me that feeling is really important, makes me Happy. Right now I am saving for a Wii (It cost like $400 USD, WTF), so I guess I will wait a little, but hey if something makes you happy why dont get it (Unless it involves killing people :P).

commodore 16 was my first pc/game device...my family couldn't afford a commodore 64 for me.
I spent most of my time in arcades however and completed 100s of games from 7-18 years old.
I don't spend anywhere near as much time playing games as I did....gone are the days when something new, fresh and exciting is released; to me they are releasing the same game over and over again and I've seen and played them all before.

On a pervious post I said my first game was Zork on a old 386. I was mistaken.

It was Dragon's Lair on the Coleco Adam.

I would have to say that I'm more into videogames now then when I was a kid, mainly because now I have the money to spend on them.

Whoa... From what i can tell ur even younger than me ... Me story is almost the same... But with a few twists and turns:

Here we go:

-at the age of 4 i got a Gameboy pocket... Bought Pokemon red, blue and yellow, mario vs donkey kong and some other classics.

-when i was around 7-8 years old i got a Gameboy color... With pokémon gold.... (Yeah pokémon kinda rocked back then...) Used to have my gameboy with me to school (Like 50 people brought them with em and have a linkcable to battle or trade pokémon...)

-Got Starcraft from my dad for my birthday! One of the best gifts i could've ever had (All my other presents kinda rocked too... *Wii anyone* cause i still play it and ITS A CLASSIC!

-Then i got a N64... Played tons of Goldeneye 007 on that one with my mates (at the age of 9-10) And i spent like 80 hours on Mario 64 and Zelda: OoT.

-2003... I got my Gamecube: That was when i was 12 and thats when my real obsession about gaming began... First i played tons of Nightfire (As the guy above me discribes) And after that i shifted to Timesplitters: Future perfect (I recommend that one... Best shooter on Gamecube iff u ask me!) Still play it with my mates (Who own it all after playing it at my house) I also own allmost all the 'good' gamecube games like Beyond good and evil, Zelda The windwaker, Super mario sunshine, Resident evil 4, Metroid 1, Paper mario: The thousand year door, Second sight, Animal crossing, Eternal darkness, blablablabla...

-2004/2005: Got My DS... But i only have 6 games... (Which are all made or published by Nintendo..... -.-). Still playin metroid online though... It's still HOT!

-2006: Got my Wii... I was freakin Hyped about that thing (then called revolution) since E3 2005... And when i got it i LOVED it!... But now i have Zelda: Twilight princess, The godfather: Blackhand edition, Wii sports and Warioware: Smooth moves and i don't really play it that much... (But that's becuzz im waitin for Resi4 Wii edition and super paper mario... Which isn't out in Eu yet *Sigh*) And ofcourse: N!ghts, Soul caliber: Legends, No more heroes, Super mario Galaxy, Super smash bros: Brawl and Metroid 3 (And some more).

-2007: Back to buying Gamecube games... Yeah... Gamecube games ... All the GOOD games i didn't own back then i own now now thanks to the budget prices of the Gamecube games (Timesplitters 2 for 9.95 Euros... Or Second sight for 7.95 Euros... Or take Beyond good and evil for a mere 4.95... Some of the best in the Cube's line-up i tell ya!)

-May/June 2007: STARCRAFT II ANNOUNCED!!! OWYEAH!... And still playing Starcraft!

And eerhm... Thats about it...! .

Sounds like me Yeah, Pokemon really was all the rage on those days... Hmm, never played Starcraft before, but as our PC is being upgraded, and it;s supposed to be so good, I'll get Starcraft II when it comes out
