Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Post Anti-X360 Flame/Trollbait in the Microsoft Forum - Get a 3-Day Ban.

I've had it.

This is out of control, and a great reason why I rarely post on VGC any more. The fanboyism is rampant, and has to stop.

As you know, many people that are anti-X360 and pro like to come to the X360, and constantly harp on RROD, console exclusives, or whatever they feel they need to to promote their console of choice.

These sort of actions aren't mature, and have degraded the quality of the Microsoft forum into constant bickering between fanboys, as it eventually entices X360 owners to begin PS3/Wii bashing, which isn't needed either.

That's why, from now on, I am going to be handing out 3-day bans to any and all forum posters that come into the Microsoft forum, and bash the system for no reason.

Now, having said this, this isn't to prevent intelligent, meaningful discussion about the X360's failures.

If your wondering what's not allowed (from http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=32147)

Well ,thats the other wonderful feature of the X360.In addition to RROD you get sometimes disc scratching.

Sorry for you guy.Try to get the console exchanged.

reason #5 why I went with SONY [and soon bringing some Nintendo to the home] How ever am not so sure if Wii disc are safe from the wii. But Bluray's have scratch guard, horray for me!!

I would recommend buy a PS3 or upgrade your PC or a X360. Personally I would never buy a Wii.

3 posters, 3 irrelevant posts that provide no help to the user, and are merely trying to promote their console of choice, rather than help the person with his problems by providing sugguestions .

I know this is extreme, and I'll get flack for it, but the fact is, this is a Xbox 360 forum. Not a general gaming forum, not the Sony/Nintendo forums. If you want to bash the X360 for some random reason, either own the **** thing, and post as an owner's rant, or don't post at all.

Likewise, no X360 fanboy, or fan should be prowling the PS3/Wii discussion threads on the Sony/N forums, waiting for a chance to deride them on some sort of figure. Gaming Discussion is, as always, fair play if you feel like you want to post some sort of X360 rant. But do it there.

Again, look at the top of this page, and note that it says Forum > Microsoft Discussion. If you see that "MS Discussion" don't be flaming or trolling.

Dude the 360 sucks. Its loud and smells bad.

Im just joking. But its hard to take you seriously by trying to censor peoples opinions.

I just hope you stick by this same rule set when it comes to the PS3/Wii forums as well.

Threads are a lot more fun when people don't come into a thread to hijack it with flamebait, regardless of which forum area it is.

It's more about quality control. What good is it to have a forum when 80% of the threads constantly degrade into flame wars?

I agree, there are places for picking your favorite console.  A thread talking about 360 controllers or a specific game is not the place for that type of opinion.  Thanks mrstickball.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

The last one about upgrading your systems and no Wii seems like opinion.. may be out of context though. Banning people for opinions isn't as tricky when you know the context. It's easy to see the context when you read the post - but it seems you guys are gunning for content >.

I agree. Only thing I do not agree with is this comment here.

"These sort of actions aren't mature, and have degraded the quality of the Microsoft forum into constant bickering between fanboys, as it eventually entices X360 owners to begin PS3/Wii bashing, which isn't needed either."

Is this saying 360 owners do not flamebait? Does this mean PS3/Wii owners start it and 360 owners finish it?

Who is being blamed here?

The same goes for PS3 forums. Many times we start a discussion on a PS3 game and a 360 fan would come in and start with flamebait, this does not just pertain to one fanbase and not the others.

Of course this goes for the Nintendo forums as well. Let us not forget how console users go into the PC forums and trash talk PC sales and how they are diminishing due to console sales, etc... which is clearly false.

If you wish to have this stop in the 360 forums, you need to insure this ruleset in all forum areas and not just one.

Of course. If your saying this as a poster, I rarely go into the Nintendo/Sony discussion forums because I try to follow the same set of rules. On the other hand, I don't see how bad the flame wars are on those given threads, but I would hope that this sets a good precedent for the VGC forums. Other mods can feel free to cite what I'm attempting for the MS forums.

The issue is that this isn't NeoGAF where posters are screened, and have to wait, to create topics, or reply to threads. This allows for users to post freely, but there's no responsibility, either. This allows too many posters to come here, spout whatever they want on any forum, with very little danger except a warning here and there. Even if it took banning 50% of the VGC posters to do it, I think that it'd atleast allow for better, more mature discussion vs. what we have now. I'm a long time poster, but the forums are useless, as every time news comes out about any company, there's usually a 100 thread post that is filled with OT flame postings.

I know for a fact you usually stick to the 360 forums. I know you can't do it all yourself, but maybe talk to the other members of the moderation team to make sure they try for the same thing you are trying for.

Still overall this is a great idea, so many things are allowed to slide, I don't want to one day see this forum turn into another Maxconsole... ahh, the horrors.
