I take it you haven't played Wii Sports with mates while drunk? Its basically what my Wii is used for now, great fun.

Anyway personally I think everybody just needs to just buy a DS, doesn't matter what else you have because the DS is the gaming device of this generation.

I've played Wii with people drunk, but after 1 broken LCD and 2 busted Wiimote later, I realize Wii + drunk people = bad drinking game.

Hm, personally, it's not that nothing on the Wii interests me, it's just that I don't care enough to buy one. I love the Zelda franchise. I think it's one of the best franchises ever. But that game alone isn't enough to get me to buy a Wii. Sure, I could spend $300 on the Wii + game, but is it worth $300? Hell, even if I had 5 or 6 games that I wanted, I don't think it would be worth it. I've got PLENTY to play as it is, with just a PS3 (albiet, with backwards compatibility). Why add more to the "to play" pile when there's already plenty on it? Will I miss some great games? Hell yes. But that didn't bother me last generation, when I only had a Gamecube. And it won't bother me this generation, when I'll most likely only own a PS3. And for the record, until I bought a PS3 and a PSP, the only consoles I have ever owned since my NES have been Nintendo consoles.

EDIT:  As for the whole entertaining guests argument, I find that games can be hit or miss, and the Wii isn't some godly gaming console that everyone enjoys.  For example, my sister and her husband had a bbq yesterday for the 4th of July.  I think the Wii was played for maybe 20 minutes, left idling for 20 minutes and then was turned off.

I was playing that a lot before HSG:OT came out. Most of the stuff I still play on the computer is pretty old. Civilization, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Vikings, Doom and Galactic Civilizations. The latest thing I've been interested in is the Spore Creator (cool stuff!).

This thread reminds me of the early Microsoft line about the PS3 -- that you could buy a Xbox 360 and a Wii for the price of a PS3.

If you want total game coverage, a Wii and an HD console will get almost everything out there worth having.

No, it wouldnt, because the PS3 is casual and hardcore, wii is just not appealing to me.

FPS listed as an easy to pick-up and enjoy game... The PS3 has casual 4 player games, but Warhawk and CoD4 ain't on that list.

 I disagree completely. Every console offers a variety of single and multiplayer aspects. A consoles appeal can only be measured in specific games that appeal to that person. It is entirely possible for a hardcore gamer to be satisfied with only the single player games offered by the Wii. It is possible for a casual party gamer only to be satisfied with the party game options of the 360/PS3. Projecting your own wants and desires on others is a terrible way to predict what "people" want.

That makes about 7 games, and 2 of them arent even out yet. That isn't a lot of local multiplayer games.

 Morgantown, PA?  How's it going?  I'm in Fleetwood.  Anyway, on topic I have very little respect for Microsoft.  However, that doesn't mean I don't respect many of the games other companies have put out for their platform.  A software company such as Microsoft has no business making hardware as evidenced by the RROD disaster.  Shoddy hardware will prevent me from buying a console much faster than good software will entice me to buy a console.



Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

PS3 has alot of local games, and so does the XBOX 360, its stupid to say it has any less than the wii.
