Forums - Sony Discussion - What makes you glad you chose PS3 over 360 the most?

Blu-ray was the deciding factor. Not because it became the nextgen movie standard -- that was icing on the cake, or more precisely, that was the pie after the cake -- but because it was clear that multicore machines needed nextgen-sized storage devices to truly shine.

It's incredible that a PC company like Microsoft couldn't see this. The first law of computing is that you can never have too much storage.

The games.....oh wait, the library is puny.
The online service.....no, that wasn't it. The online service is puny too.
The BluRay player.......nope, wrong again. I'm not a movie collector, I get my HD movies on pay per view or Live.

Wait a tick.....Live!! That's right, I didn't choose the PS3, I chose the 360!!!

And I am a former console hater for the record. After the SNES ran its course I was an exclusive PC gamer up until January. It was time to either upgrade my computer or switch to consoles. With a new baby in the house, I felt like kind of a jerk continually pumping money into my gaming rig every year, so it was time to switch.

Needless to say, I went into this decision unbiased. In fact, it KILLED me to admit that if I wanted to keep being able to afford gaming I would have to switch to console gaming. I didn't want to give Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony my hard earned money (formerly it would have been my hard earned video card budget).

So I spent about a month agonizing over which system, and I finally chose the 360 about 7 months ago. Why? All my friends are on Live, there are tons of games for it that appeal to me, and I get perfectly good HD movies on Comcast pay per view or HBO HD. I don't care for accumulating a BluRay library, therefore I don't care for disk media at all. (In fact, a lot of analysts think that disk media is about to go the way of the dodo anyway.)

So there you have it. 7 months ago I was a completely unbiased, new console customer. I bought my 360 (making sure it was a Falcon model when I got it home) and I have been a happy camper ever since.

A PC gamer goes with M$? Omgz no way! You made the right choice though. All your favorite PC games can be found on 360 and vice-versa.
