Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's E3: What we know, what we think (56k warning)

Most of you know this already, but Animal Crossing Wii is now confirmed.

http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=1416

Also, whatever Capcom's secret Wii game is, it's not a Dead Rising remake, nor is it a revival of Dead Phoenix. Which means we're running out of next-gen Capcom titles that it might be.

A Devil May Cry spinoff? (Please no.)

"When asked if the engines for Xbox 360's Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Dead Rising would be used for projects on other platforms, Inafune stated that the engines has been optimized for multiplatform usage, but that they wouldn't work on Wii. Instead, the developer is looking to utilize the Resident Evil 4 engine for some Wii projects."

So whatever Capcom's new game is, it's likely to use an upscale version of the RE4 engine. Even better news lies two paragraphs down.

"The Wiire asked if titles like mature games like Dead Rising and Lost Planet: Extreme Condition would be suitable for Wii and if Capcom is interested in appealing to the Wii owners who desire mature titles. Inafune said all the next-generation systems will all see their share of mature projects, and that Nintendo's new attitude as of late, different from the one exuded throughout much of GameCube's lifespan, allows a better opportunity to develop mature games on Wii - Resident Evil 4 being a notable example."

Unfortunately, this still leaves me stumped. Perhaps it really is something like Resident Evil 4.5 (I doubt it)? I think this interview is also the first time he dropped a hint about Mega Man 9. Furthermore, three posts in a row!

...maybe I should just stop posting to myself. Or get a LiveJournal.

Raven Blade would be very cool. It would surprise me enormously though. The project was cancelled, probably for a reason.

Yeah at the time they said it was all art and had no gameplay direction. So all the work had been mostly graphics and CGI sequences but they had no game. -- It was cancelled but that just like with Futerama and the Family Guy if enough people call for it, it may resurrect.

Every interview that Retro has been in the reporter asks or mentions that game. If that game is ever made it would generate huge buzz in the industry. Everybody would be talking about it, because people are still talking about i (after sooo long even though it was NEVER a game).

I really wanted that game- there is one screen shot out there where a guy in hiding from this HUGE red dragon- it looked great.

I got one. If theyre gonna sue Nyko then Ninty better get movin and release a cordless nunchuk. Yea makes perfect sense and no ones sayin shiite about it. I like choking Godfather style but i don't actually want to accidently choke myself. (no that's not a pun)

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I don't really have anything to add to this, I am basically quoting you so people learn how to speculate with pizazz.  Great way to sumarize the situation.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Deadly Creatures , Mad World , Disaster : DoC and Fatal Frame are IMO by far the most interesting games from the list . True there are tons of games on the list that are are shore to be crap , but in the same time call me impressed :o

That basically confirms a new RE for Wii. "Next gen favorite" -> RE5

They could do a lot of things. A remake of 2/3, a follow up to RE4 with Leon Kennedy or a completely seperate storyline (maybe Asia, as RE5 will be in Africa). However the ultimate game would feature Wesker as the main character. There's still so much to be told about his part in the story.

I just skimmed this thread, and it took a couple hours.

Great work man. Saved me hours of Googling that I wouldn't have done.

Uh... thanks?

True, but the Spyborgs developer called whatever Wii game Capcom is working on a "surprising twist", and a sequel (or even a light-gun game) wouldn't be particularly surprising. We also now know that Capcom's final E3 game is called "Flock" (although Trestres correctly pointed out that we don't know whether that game will show up at E3).

I'm hoping/not hoping it's Resident Evil. Hoping, because I'm a fan of the series, and 4 was one without a doubt one of the best games I've ever played. I'm not hoping, because Capcom's best talents are probably dedicated to other projects (RE 5, MH 3, Dark Void, Bionic Commando, Mega Man 9), so any RE game for Wii that they're working on would probably have second-stringers working on it.

Edit: Never mind, Flock is the Wii project, and it IS coming at E3.

Success! The thread is finally complete (for now). As always, people are welcome to continue contributing, either with corrections, new ideas, or just speculation and anticipation.

Special thanks to those of you who helped, most notably Celine, Soriku, Claude, Rudysr8, and L.C.E.C. for their suggestions and additions, BengaBenga and Sqrl for keeping this place troll-free, BengaBenga again for the idea of putting all the info in one spot, and Naznatips and BengaBenga for letting me rip entire games out of their threads, and all of you who offered kudos.

Some statistics: I clocked in 22 and half hours over the course of a week in updating this thread (I need a job...). The thread covers 280 games, over half of which are going to be at E3. Nintendo is likely to have 18 games at E3. 10 more Nintendo games are rumored to exist (although chances are most of those don't).

I'd also like some confirmation to make it official, but I'm pretty confident that the OP is the single-largest post ever made on this site.

I mostly enjoyed making this thread (with the exception of having to include shovelware titles). To be honest, it hasn't turned into quite what I'd originally envisioned, as I pictured it as a place to not only see what's coming up but also to swap rumors and speculation, and to share your anticipation of what's coming up. Still, what it is now isn't bad, and I hope you guys enjoy it. Feel free to post whatever you (non-trolling) comments you wish, and if you've got something to add I'll get to it.
