Forums - Sony Discussion - Firmware 2.4 question, how did the update go for you?

No problem here. I have a 60 gig. Downloaded firmware from sony's site and updated via storage card. I keep pressing the ps button in game to see the xmb come up. Still can't believe it was released. I am waiting to see if Metal Gear is going to patch trophies before I play through again.

Same here I hope they patch MGS4 soon. Oh and mine has worked fine.

No problems here, 60GB.

No issues here.

the alledged issues could have been caused by turning off the console while performing the update (or may happen in very small quatities for some yet unknown reason)

If it was just caused by people turning off the console while updating problems would have arisen with earlier updates as well.  This looks like a very minor problem but don't brush it under the rug.  I'm sure there must have been some legitimate reason to make Sony pull the update other than to slap on a "Do not unplug while updating console" warning screen at the beginning.

I'm pretty sure that warning is always there when the console is doing anything like that.

No problems for me. 60gig European model.

If it is a data corruption on the hdd problem it could take quite a while to figure out exactly what the corrupt data is and why it happened. I would assume its to do with user added content, otherwise sony should have picked it up during testing. Perhaps adding a scan of the hard drive onto the firmware install to check for errors.

Yes

Yea, it has to be enabled on a game by game basis I believe. Super Stardust HD is able to play your music, but it got that update prior to the 2.40 firmware.

I've heard though that while it's going to be difficult for the games that are too far along already to implement these things, Sony will begin to make these features a requirement for developers.

My update had a problem.

I had just finished a game when I noticed it wanted to update before I turned it off so I did.  Halfway through the update it seemed to restart and then it tried updating again.  Seemingly halfway through that update it restarted again.

Then it said "Hard drive not found" or something like that.  I kind of began panicking but I ejected the disc before doing anything else because I didn't want it stuck in there just in case the ps3 wouldn't turn back on.  It ejected fine.  No response from the controller at all so I had to push the power off button myself.

I pushed the power button to turn it back on and it worked.  It seems fine now but that "Hard drive not found" message was really scary.
