Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 is not a hardcore system...

Innovation - "These days you can take a crap in a bucket and call it innovation."

Truely - but if it's not what people wanted then the innovation was worthless.

How Blu-Ray was applied is where Sony went horribly wrong.

Most games of 2005 never went over decompressed 15 gigs - The largest I've ever seen first hand was probably (PC included) around 8 Gigs which was WoW.

Of course they added High-resolution as the catch thing, which honestly a game like WoW can't fit on a DvD and would be massive via download if it were all in ultra high resolution. This kind of strong arms the entire downloadable game thing, and I'm sure Sony hoped it would progress outside of just games to also movies and music. That would actually kill stuff like youtube if it had cought on like how they initially hoped... looking back it kind of seems like it could of been a magic silver bullet.

However bootleg is still the dominant medium.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

PS3 is not a hardcore system. Wii is for casuals and 360 is for the hardcore, PS3 is a mixture. Here are some reasons why:

1. Little Big Planet will be a million seller. This game appeals to a very wide audience with its gameplay because of it iss simple, easy to learn, and fun. PERFECT CASUAL GAME.

2. It has THE best racing simulator (we all know what it is).

3. Jak and Dexter, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper are all very popular platformers, which will sell at least a million a piece.

4. Debatable: It has THE best action/adventure franchise: God of War series.

5. It has THE best RPGs: Final Fantasy series/maybe kingdom hearts

6. It has one of the most popular fighting franchises: Tekken series

7. Has the best off-road series: Motorstorm.

8. Of course we all know that the Metal Gear Series is the best for stealth/action.

9. Shooters: Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and Socom are all very popular games that will sell well.

10. Debatable: best baseball game: MLB 08

In conclusion, PS3 is not just for hardcore gamers...it appeals to the casual and hardcore gamer crowd. As of right now, it may only display interest in the hardcore crowd, but in time with a pricecut, the audience will be amended for the medium of both types of gamers. The games that it has now and the upcoming titles in the future will apeal to everyone so that both crowds can relate to them.

P.S. Bet: PS3 2009 sales will equal Wii 2008 total WW sales.

1. Not relesed yet

2. Apart from a demo, not released yet

3. Apart from Jak and Daxter, not released yet

4. Not released yet

5. Not released yet.

Sony domination will not happen this time.  You can count on it.  Nintendomination is already happening.  By the end of this generation Wii will be THE console to own for both hardcore and softcore games (makes me feel dirty typing that statement).

The Wii will not do to the PS3 and 360 what the PS2 did to everyone else last generation.  The Wii does not cover all the bases so there will continue to be a battle between the HD consoles.  The Wii will certainly have sold more, but it's sales will not cause, and have not caused, developers to begin to prefer it for their all of their top games.  Therefore, owning only a Wii for many gamers will not give them access to many of the types of games they want to play.

I give that post a 9.6.

@rajendra...I have to agree with this post, there will be no such thing as nintedomination, nor playstation domination. The market is no longer linear, you have multiple systems that have different features. In order to have the best gaming experience, you have to buy both consoles (pswii) (wii60)...unless something drastic happens at E3.

I agree with you that the market this generation is fractured. Thw Wii will not generally not get the purty graphics games, and PS3/XB360 generally will not get the pick up and play while drunk games.  But the original poster was saying PS3 gets it all, and I disagree.  As a clear market leader, if a cosole comes closest to getting it all, I think it'll be the Wii.  Since the graphics on the Wii are good enough IMHO, some hardcore complex games will happen along wit the other genres as time goes on.  The PS3, on the other hand, will see its early lead of having captured the imagination of developers slowly erode away.  If the Wii could have done one thing better, it would have been to enable 720P graphics over component cables.  It's not much of a stretchin power over 480P, and it is very close to the native resolution of most LCD TVs being sold today.  But even wihout that its nearly 50% marketshare will not be ignored for long.

I agee with point 9.... and I guess 6.

That's about it.

1. Should be a million seller and appeal to a wide market however there is the question of will it.

2. GT5 hasn't come out yet. Until it does it isn't the best... and when it does it'll have the new Forza to compete with.

3. Well I guess they are popular... none of them were really any good though.

4. Ew.... not even close to the best.

5. Ew.... not even close to the best/unlikely unless you believe int he 10 year plan. Game won't get started for real till 13V is out. The most popular RPG yeah... lots of casual RPG fans love it... but i mean... best RPG... i think most hardcore RPG fans would disagree.

6. It's popular... just not good.

7. Motorstorm is horrible.

8. I'd disagree

9. Yeah.

10. MLB Power Pros.

Either way... at the end of the day you can have all the tools that should apply to the hardcore and casual bases but there are no actual gurantees you are going to do so.  Look at Dreamcast.  It was basically a much better PS2.  Yet it failed.

Awesome. This just means that everyone can find a decent reason to buy one.

you obviously didnt play any of those games...or else you would have said something different

what ever happened to this guy?

This debate would be more relevant after the Motion Wand thingy is released, bcos then we would actually see some casual games, for what was designed as a cutting edge core system.
