Forums - Sales Discussion - For Those that do & do not have a PS3... A Quick Question

I guess the whole "mass market" is just full of people with unrealistic goals, then, because the xbox is at $400 now with a TON of great games and it isn't selling well, still. But, then, that's the problem. Until it DOES reach the mass market price point (sony has admitted it is probably $299), I don't expect that big volumes of PS3s (or 360s for that matter) are going to move.

 Way to state the obvious.

Don't get me wrong I am willing to pay 500 for it, but I am still on the fence.

Final Fantasy is what got me to buy PS1 and 2. I am a big FF fan but I don't like the direction its going (XII was good, but just good. it's like a sped up MMO, but still too drawn out. Big environments look nice, but really they take too long to navigate. Less big space and less design just for looks more design for good game play. Also lvl building is really get to be a pain with out an overworld/dungeon/town map.)

I really could go 360 or PS3 because the only 360 game I must have, Bioshock, is also on PC. I will get a HD console, it comes down to $200 more for blu-ray, do I want it? Digital Distibution is already here (Hell, Sony is pushing it more than MS). If Sony hadn't gone with blu-ray it would have been an easy answer.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

For the next 3 years, $500 no way.
Maybe I would pay $400 a year and a half from now, but probably not any sooner as there is too many PS2 games I haven't played yet, plus lots of wii games coming out, and not enough games out that are that much better to justify the price for me even at $400 this year.

I don't have a HD TV, and don't see a reason for a PS3 without one, and I don't see me getting one for over a year.

For me to purchase it today, without me having a HDTV to hook it to, and without many games for it (besides PS2 games), it would have to be down to $250. As quality and quantity of exclusive titles increase, the amount I am willing to pay will too.  FPS games is one of the the least interesting genres for me.

i would buy it if it went down to 450 by end of the year. and 400 by next april. but xmas 2008, it would be great if they can drop it to 350 and come out with FF13. but until then, nothing above 450. i dont want the ps3 just sitting there cuz the only games i play are FF and GT on the PS3.

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

GAMEFLY & GOOZEX FTW

Because both Americans and Canadians (such as me) are cheap. There's a reason why the whole Wal-Mart phenomenom started over here. It's a cultural thing, we want it cheap and now, even if we have to replace it a few years down the road....

Just because it's not worth $600 to us, doesn't mean we are moaning about it.  We just are not purchasing it...  we have other things to spend our money on and satisified with other systems.

 True that. Wal-Mart FTW.

I'll put up with Wal-Mart crap to save $0.08 per item. When I buy 30 items that saves me almost $2.50 and that's totally worth their crap. The only time I don't go to Wal-Mart is when I buy my fruits and veggies since their selection is generally crap.

a $200 Price drop would be good but i won't buy one until there are some great games released and looking at the release list i think it'll be at least mid 2008 for me
