Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft FUD on VGC is getting old...

I think the FUD (which seems to be coming mainly from insecure Sony fanboys) is turning off the site to 360 owners who might have joined the site otherwise.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I don't think 360 supporters will ever come here in numbers anywhere close to what we see from Sony or Nintendo fans. Look at the stats from Alexa.com. Vgchartz is very popular in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Mexico (all 360 loving countries, even if the Wii is more popular). Now the site is also popular in counties like Spain and Italy but realistically, there will never be a good amount of 360 fans unless Microsoft themselves start doing better.

Ok...this statement...which a half-truth...is just wrong.

This site was far more anti-sony/anti-Nintendo long before thehre were no 360 fans.  The bottom line is that Microsoft does not have as many fans as Nintendo and Sony.  And if you disagree with that statement I would point you in the direction of console sales history.  What fans Nintendo lost over the last few generations became sony gamers for the most part....and are slowly returning to their roots.

Just to clarify again, the best way to handle this stuff is to report it. Every time someone crosses the line their warning/banning is recorded to provide context for future disciplinary action. In short if we see a pattern of this stuff from a user they are going to get a harsher punishment, and the only way we can establish that pattern is through your help via the report system.

With that said gratuitous use of the report system is itself something we track, so use your best judgment.

Hmmm.

I think I could name about 10 posters that contribute 90% of the MS/Xbox 360 FUD.

But I think Montana is wrong to suggest that this site's lack of MS fans is due to the company's lack of performance, as there were never many MS fans here when the console was selling great, and for most of its lifetime the PS3's performance was dismal, but VGC has always had plenty of ardent Sony fans.

When was the console selling great?

There was holiday season 2006, when the site was pretty much unknown. There was the Halo 3 launch period, which I'm sure attracted quite a few 360 fans but didn't actually boost 360 sales that much outside of America, and even there the effect wasn't all that great. The site was pretty much dominated by Nintendo fans until the end of '07 when the PS3 sold better than many expected, and PS3 fans came in in droves. There's no denying that.

To be honest I do not have much empathy for 360 owners. Ps3 owners were mercilessly taunted by Wii60 owners during the first year.

But we could form an alliance and start taunting Wii owners with their kiddie system

@ Montana
The Xbox 360 sold very solidly from a month prior to the launch of Halo 3 until the end of 2007. It also sold well around Gears (which was pre my time on VGC) and it sold well in Europe after its price drop. Certainly its sales have never been bad enough to act as a deterrent to Xbox 360 fans signing up (except for Japan).

But there was a large, large number of Sony fans on this site a year ago when the console wasn't doing well. Granted, their numbers have increased in the last three or four months. I also think its true that they get away with a lot more than people like me/legend/Gebx that are perceived to be strong Xbox 360 fans.

Thats probably attributable to the fact that there are many Nintendo leaning mods, a fair few (fairly hardcore) Sony leaning mods, and only one Microsoft leaning mod (MrStickBall) who almost never bans anyone.
