 same here dude, they were bad mouthing vgchartz on nexgenwars so i popped in here to have a look and haven't posted on ngw since.

Thriice, but I only browsed the site for the numbers and don't remember where I heard about this, think it was in a blog, then I carried on here.

I thought it was funny watching the numbers turn, reminded me of those counters with deaths, heart-attacks, car-jacks, etc...

nexgenwars attempts to provide up to the minute stats by figuring out how console sales are changing over time and then projecting those numbers forward. This can be reasonably accurate under certain situations, but has some critical flaws. Among these flaws is the fact that if anything happens to drastically change a console's sales rate, it doesn't get accounted for until the next time the site resynchronizes its numbers: something that doesn't happen very often.

The 360's numbers are likely close because not so much has happened on that front recently to alter its sales figures from the norm. The PS3's numbers are probably low because the rates haven't taken MGS4 into account yet. The Wii's numbers... well, it's never easy to say with the Wii.



Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

I use to be a regularly visitor to that forum, the idea of the counter was just a different way of showing current sales and it was suppose to be kept updated with the ticker changing speeds depends on the most recent sales data.

HOWEVER, the original owner sold the site quite some time ago and as such the new owners did nothing but paste google ads all over it and then left it to die whilst still benefiting from the ad revenue. It still has a very small community of posters but it is nothing but a small forum now, the numbers are an out-of-date joke that you should not even bother looking at.

And no, they don't hate this site either (the haters moved to a different forum).

NeoGaf is a great site. How come they do not like VGChartz?

I hear they had a pretty decent forum. Lots of their members visited our IRC channel a few times, and managed to double to amount of people there. =P
