Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What I want to know before buying my 360...

Game demo's are up to 1.5GB these days (though they are not all that big. Also, Xbox originals can be up to about 5GB. Then there are all sorts of trailers ranging from standard ones (like 50MB) to massive conferences (like 1GB).

If you can afford the Elite, there is something to be said for that kind of future-proofing (not that any console is future proof, but you know what I mean). That said, you won't absolutely need it.

And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... Still getting returns at work due to RRoD, so I am not sure how much it was 'corrected'. But when worse comes to be, you will just be without your 360 for upward of 8 weeks, nothing to die over.

haha why dont you stick the knife in lmao and twist it a little but more

When has Sony dropped a price in order to clear out a model, or whatever you're claiming?  They do improve hardware more often than the competition (from their original quiet, cool, reliable launch configs), but when have you seen a clearance sale?

As far as i know, the RROD is gone, but if you do get one, you have an extended warrenty, so atleast you know if something does go wrong (Doubtful) they'll fix it or send you a new one.

I have the Elite myself and i love it, the 120 Gigabite hard drive is great for storing all your music, video and pictures, you can also stream things though it and record live TV.

Apparently there will be a 100 dollar price drop later on the year, a few people have posted this and i am not 100 percent sure if it is true.

It is a good purchase and you will have a great time with it.

is this possible in australia? if anyone from aus is doing this could you tell how? it'd seal me an elite pronto

OK, you've convinced me to aim for the Elite. Now I just need MS to promise me that it won't be offering the Super Elite model in the fall.

I suppose you don't live in Europe XD

As far as RROD, who knows if its fixed, but it seems to be a lot better lately. I've never had one, and neither has anyone I've known who has one.

But then, I and others I know keep our 360's in well ventilated areas and don't smoke around them, and don't keep books or clothing stacked on top of them. If you have a spot for your 360 that isn't an insulated carpet sandwich from which heat cannot escape, you'll probably be fine.

I'd say the Elite is worth it, and I doubt we'll see better cheaper models by end of year. At best that won't come until late 2009

1. RROD seems to be a thing of the past at this point. I own a pawnshop and have sent numerous consoles in, receiving all of them in no more than a weeks time everytime I have sent them in, in case you do have a problem.

2. The Elite is basically a "PRO" model with a 120GB HDD, if you plan on downloading a crap load of media then it is worth the money, if you're simply going to play games, buy the PRO and wait on larger third party HDD that will be much cheaper. There is rumor of a 320GB HDD coming out that will plug into the USB and be compatible.

3. I don't believe there will be another substantial price-cut or system altering SKU until E3 2009.

I'm not an expert but I have been an avid XBOX 360 gamer since their debut and plain and simple, it is the best gaming unit on the market and you should not wait any longer to enjoy the euphoria that is powering up your 360 and forgetting the rest of the world for as long as possible while you pop heads online with your friends on a little hit game known as Gears of War.
