Ok, Wii CAN have them... but its unfair that Nintendo dudes get all the educational games and the other consoles get nothing.
But seriously Education is serious business across the world so I don't get why all those educational programs aren't released on the consoles in mass. Its an opportunity to both increase the sales of a console and to move a craptonne of software because billy needs Grade 2 maths/English and Georgina needs grade 5 ditto plus french. So when they get older then need another 5 games for the next level. Thats on top of any other games they would purchase as an example.
Educational tools are a great way to add value for any family with a range of children from young to old and for anyone who still plays games and has children of their own. This is because you're giving the console a use beyond simply playing games and you're potentially involving a greater proportion of the family so the cost per user would go down and the percieved value would increase.
This is an UNTAPPED market area, it doesn't have a huge cost of entry and the games are quick and easy to make with a potential to sell a fairly decent quantity of them. Plus if you get there first you can take the whole market for yourself and raise the barriers for entry for other manufacturers. I can understand last generation not having the ability to do these kinds of games but I don't think that theres any reason why they can't be done in this generation.
