What is the point fo using devkits anyway?

They're special consoles used for development. Probably have a ton of features to help developers, such as not needing to burn a DVD just to run a game.

I am suprise that some developers seem to have a hard time developing on the PS3 since there are devkits that should help them.

There are devkits for every console, that's not what makes it harder to develop on the PS3.

According to what I've heard, the problem with the PS3 is its less friendly architecture and worse development tools (not surprising since Microsoft has decades of experience with making tools for developers).

This is exactly why the PS3 isn't doing as well as it should.  Sony made big mistakes making the PS3.

And nobody even considered for a second that its simply a PC? A pc is sort of a console and typewriter in one for those who only play consoles btw.

yeah? Its the new supermega exclusive titel for Xbox 360.
After MGS4, Kojima always wanted to make something new, brand awesome IP. Remember my words.

Kojima is writing the story for the new IP.  Will it be an RPG, another steath game?  We won't know until the game is officially unveiled.  Kojima really seems to like writing stories for his own games.

The PS3 dev tools at this stage aren't as bad as you make them out to be, they have been significantly improved since the PS3 launched, but of course this doesn't mean their as good as the 360, well not yet anyways.

One of the biggest problems developers have with the PS3 is the architecture, they have to learn and adapt to a new way of thinking as well as data layout/structure. this forces the developer to be less sloppy with their code as the layout/structure of their code can really affect performance, this type of new thinking also helps 360 programming and makes code run better, but the hard thing for developers is that they have to think different to what they have been use to for decades, and some times change is hard, but change has to happen because CPU tech is no longer about speed but about multiple cores.

@jake_the_fake1: Read what I said again. "Worse" means "worse", it doesn't mean "bad".

MGS4 will be coming to the 360 ok? Sorry Sony fanboys but were gonna get your shuga! The game will come on 2 HDDVD's and packaged with an Ice pack to keep your 360 from getting RROD. On this day about 200k 360's will be sold. Don't believe me? Check this link:

dev kits have an extra block where the hdd usually goes and are usually if not always black, and apparently, that's not even his desk....because he has an office.

Its not a dev kit, 360 dev kits are black.

Devkits are black, test kits are white.  It's perfectly normal for every member of a team that isn't a programmer to not have a dev kit but a test kit in their office.

They're special developer kits for a given console. They allow you to test the game, and environments out on the system your making the game for, without having to burn a DVD, and transfer the code that way. It allows for much, much faster translation and debuging of a game.

If by given you mean paid $20,000 then yeah, that's about right.

porting MGS4 !!

obviously !
