Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What do you think of the GameCube's controller?

It's a decent controller, but anyone calling it the best controller ever seriously need to hold a couple more different ones. The 360 controller handily outclasses the GC controller. I mean, for god's sake, you'd have to be the Gamecube to have a worse D-Pad than the 360.

Looks like something you'd get from a little toy workshop. The A button was used a lot because it was far easier than pushin the X and Y buttons that it so handily pushed to the edge of the controller.

I'm not saying that it's a bad controller, far from it. But it's nowhere near the best controller ever.

Its alright. Better than the original Xbox controller, but worse than the Dual Shock 2. The Z button is just in an unarguably terrible position...and for a lot of games the layout seems kind of strange and akward...

The C-stick wasn't done that well either, IMO.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I'm one of the few people who preferred the Xbox's Controller S (not the bearpaw) to the other last-gen offerings. It had the best thumbsticks, good triggers, and I prefer the diamond button layout to the GC controller's radial layout. The C-stick is too clumsy on the GC controller, too.

Both controllers beat out the dualshock design, mostly due to my loathing of Sony's thumbsticks. I find their large surface hard to accurately manipulate and their position a strain to use for lengthy periods.

I loved the GC controller. It was very comfortable, and I'd say it's tied with the DS3 as my favorite.

The only things that I didn't like about it were the oddly placed Z button and the C stick.

Worst of last gen. The same for the N64 controller IMO

Since were on the subject of controllers, Is there a PS3 controller with the analog layout like the cube/xbox pads. Im really wanting a PS3 for LBP but dont know if I want to use there pad. Even a 3rd party pad will do if it has the layout like that.

Great controller. The d-pad was crap, but then again, who needed it.

The Wavebird is probably my favo control ever.

Dual Shocks are good ones too, but they seem to hurt my fingers If I play for more than 2 hours, somwthing the GC doent.
