1 mln. in 6 months.. that`s not a lot.. =))
though actually the difference between ps3 and x360 in USA/canada is less then it is on VG.

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

nope 1mln. aint that much considering it's 1/20 of 360 total sales.
But considering in 6 months 4.51mln against 3.34mln i'd start to think there's something going on.

I was expecting big boost of PS3 hardware from late 2007.
And now, 2008, with big release like DMC4, GTA IV and MGS 4, Blu-Ray victory (Yes!) I thougt the gap would be even closer. 360 is, and will this year, be strong. But Sony have one foot in the fight now. But its not looking bad for the future of 360 neither.

Playstation brandname remains huge,despite the terrible faults that Sony made with PS3 and that's the way it's still 3rd in the race!It's obvious that when the gap between MS and Sony reached 100 millions ps2 units more for Sony, PS3 would have a huge advantage!The only way for MS to look Sony on the eyes was the release of many excellent games.That's what matters after all..So,untill October-November 2007
MS managed to have the upper hand with so many great releases during the whole year(Gears,HALO 3,Bioshock,Forza2 etc).Since december,the situation changed.Mass Effect is the last huge 360 exclusive game i can remember...On the other hand ps3 got 2 of its most expected games(MGS4,GT5pr).So,the lack of important 360 exclusives(NG2 wasn't something so crucial) and PS huge brandname led to Sony's dominance for the first time.I find this something very natural.But during the next six months the situation might change cause a lot of great and hyped exclusives come for 360 too.it will be a very interesting period.
