The best selling console this gen has to sell more than the PS2 to call this gen a growth. Mainly because if each Wii, Ps3 and 360 sell 100M consoles that isnt necessaril growth for the industry mailing bc it could be those same 100M that have all three consoles. Growth is only when a console sells to people that didnt buy one last gen that is real growth.

A Sony gamer: I hope the PS3 passes the PS2.

A Sony fanboy: I hope the Wii doesn't pass the PS2.

Will your enjoyment of PS2 games or your memories be tainted at all if the Wii passes it?

To be honest I also hope the PS2 stays the best selling console and the WII won't reached it, as the PS2 ruled in every genre. WII doesn't and most likely never will.

And to say that the WII has expended the market, you're wrong, the PS2 already did with its Eye Toy games, Singstar, Guitar Hero and stuff long before the WII did.

Um you do realize that none of those became a sucess except guitar hero. And guitar hero had nothing to do with the ps2 specifically except being released on it. Also montana already showed prove that the market didn't expand significantly, because the ps2 sales weren't that much pass the ps1s, and the market didn't increase that much compared to the previous generation. The wii is expanding the market more with games such as wii fit, and wii sport becoming very successful, and people such as grand parents and parents getting into gaming. The ds also did this.

Wii sold 28 million

The wii expanded the market how exactly? If you go by your theory that would mean the wii needs to pass 120million to expand the market.

Well the wii isn't anywhere near done selling. The ps2 is, but I bet the wii already sold more to non gamers than the ps2 did.

PS2's were re-brought a lot I think, One drop and mine messed up, Nintendo stuff usually don't break so easily (DS, Gamecube dropped so many times >.>)
