By that definition PS2 should be second to NES.  Wii's seems to be doing all those things as well though the full impact won't be known until the end of generation.

We are already seeing the wii's japanese support growing, and I expect the western support to grow a little more too. ALso I predict after tgs the wii will have mroer japanese support than both consoles put together.

Also, the whole people bought ps2's to play dvds argument is rubbish. There is some merit to saying that dvd playback influenced people to buy it over the other two consoles. However, to state that these people bought it exclusively for dvd movies is incorrect as for a considerable part the generation dvd players were available with more features for less money. I find the lengths people will go to to descredit the ps2's successes amazing.

 

Actually I believe the PS2 was the cheapest DVD player in Japan for quite a while. I think that's where the argument stems from.

Lifetime predictions Xbox360 - 25million Wii 140 million PS3 200million and growing. I expect the PS3 to last 15 years!

No matter how I dislike it, I would expect the Xbox 360 to sell more than 25 million. If the PS3 turned the situation around, they could get first place, but I wouldn't expect it to sell 200 million.

On topic:

The ps2 is still expanding the video game market today, and will continue to sell millions of more. I hope the ps2 makes 200 million.

All I see it doing is changing the market from core gaming, to casual gaming which isnt a good thing.
